American Singles is among the top dating sites out there. I would recommend it based on the easy navigational tools and various functions it offers. You can email, send flirts, see if someone is interested based on a hot list or the click of a heart shaped icon. Yes, many other dating sites have some of these features mentioned, but the layout of the site, I believe is much more user friendly than some of the other sites like Match.com and eHarmony. Like many of these dating sites, you can also hide your profile and come back to it at a later time. Photos are sent directly to American Singles, and you will wait no longer than a day and the company will post them. This is for censorship purposes.
There is only one downside to this dating site. Sometimes American Singles Web Messenger (IM window) tends to be very slow or has issues, so once you make an initial contact with your person of choice, you'd better give them your AOL IM contact information. I believe this site is one of the best, has better rates and better customer service than other dating websites. I have never had any trouble getting through on the phone or via email.
You can also have a profile for free and receive instant messages from other people, or create a "Hot List" of your favorite profiles, and even send flirts. I do however recommend that you pay for your profile because once you get in a habit of going on the site, with a free profile you will get annoyed that you can't IM anyone. It is worth it, you might just find your match.
For some reason, the people on this site seem to be more genuine. Maybe it's just my luck, but I feel that these people actually want to have conversations and not just one night stands.
