Tips For A Clueless Husband

Updated on October 3, 2014

Best ways to make your wife happy. What are the best ways to keep my wife happy? This article has some tips for the clueless as well as some advice for those who are unsure.

1. Put down the Laptop, IPOD, IPAD, Iphone, XBOX, Playstation or Smartphone

When it comes to any important time of the day including breakfast, dinner, TV time, even her favorite show, just put it away. Even if that means that you might have to watch that god awful show, its worth it to make her happy. Trust me on this one. Technology destroys relationships.

Do you feel that Technology makes us selfish and it effects our relationships?

2. Make a Calendar

Make a calendar on your phone, outlook, or even a paper calendar and on it, include your relationship milestones. Don't go overboard but make sure to buy gifts for any big days i.e birthdays, mothers day, anniversary. To take it a step further, put down all important days that may be important to her. If you are in doubt about how important the day is to her, just be aware of it, so if she springs it on you, its not a shock.

Have you ever forgotten an important day?

3. Listen

Just shut up and listen. It doesn't really get any simpler. No matter how much you think you can help with advice, she doesn't want your advice. She just wants you to listen.

4. Spontaneous Gifts

Even if its something small like 1 red rose, buy her something she will appreciate and do it spontaneously. Maybe on the way home from work or even leave it on the counter when you leave for work with a note.

5. Make her feel special

Even a nice word like, 'those jeans look really nice on your butt', then sit back and see how they become her favorite jeans. Maybe even saying 'I Love you' without being prompted first can make a huge difference. Most men and women think very differently, and a well timed word can lead to a happy partner.

6.Try to stay positive

Even if she is being a downer, she will thank you later. Stay positive and always try to make circumstances more enjoyable. There is nothing more infectious than a positive attitude and yet there is nothing worse than a couple who are both down in the dumps.

7. Take an interest in her interests

You don't need to actually like what she likes. Just take an interest in her interests and ask a few questions. Even something as simple as, 'So this show you're watching, is it any good'. Or, on a simpler note, something so simple as 'So how was your day today? Did anything interesting happen?'. And per number 3 above, its important to listen to the response. Don't just ask and then regret it. Walking away in the middle of the response may land you in the dog house.

8. Stay in Good Shape and Stay interesting

Even the most loving wife will find you more interesting, attractive and generally a better person to spend time with if you work out and at least try to cut down some of that belly fat and stay interesting. That includes taking up hobbies that she can partake in, or even ones she cant. And lets be honest, you really can loose out on this one no matter what angle you come at it from. You will be more physically attractive for her, you will have more to talk about and could potentially spend more quality time with her. You may even find a new interest that she may want in on.

Are you in worse or better shape since you met her?

9. Be Confident and Stay Confident

We all have our ups and downs, but when you are in a long term relationship or marriage, your wife may not have seen you on a downward spiral before. It is extremely important to remain confident. We all have melt down moments when we are depressed, sad or feeling down. You should be able to rely on your partner to make you feel better but the bounce back is very important. Get back on the horse as soon as you can and be confident. Its key!
