Cheap Wedding Decorations Using Christmas Supplies

Updated on March 23, 2019

One thing that caught me off guard this year when walking around stores was all the beautiful colors Christmas decorations come in. I'm engaged, and after calculating the cost of getting married my fiance and I decided to be engaged for about two years. Our plan is to slowly spread out the cost of the wedding. The key to this is saving money. Something that I have a problem with because I can't seem to walk into a store without buying something. So I decided that every week or so I would go into a store and instead of buying something I want right now, I would buy something I will need later. Hence the different colored Christmas decorations. Some of the colors do not even look like Christmas, purple, pink, and blue for instance.

There are many beautiful Christmas decorations out there that could be used for other purposes i.e. a wedding. If you are planning a Spring, Summer, or Fall wedding you may even want to check out other holiday Items such as Easter, Thanksgiving, and Halloween. The key is to spend the least amount possible and get the most of the items you love. Most holiday items are marked 25%-50% off the day after the holiday. So just save a little more money during the holidays, and go shopping the day after!

From experience it is usually a good idea to get a second opinion when buying holiday items for weddings. One week I found some of the most beautiful flowers ever, and brought them home to show my mom how I was going to use them in centerpieces. She then told me that they were Christmas flowers and asked me if I was planning on having the wedding around Christmas time. So for now on she is definately going shopping with me for advice.

Great Items to buy that can be used outside of Christmas time. Christmas tree lights. Unless your colors are going to be red and green, I would suggest buying the lights with clear bulbs, or ones that are in your colors if you can find them. If you are getting married around Christmas time you could probably use tabletop Christmas trees as centerpieces. Like I said before just go shopping the day after Christmas. Christmas balls are a great Idea to, just take off the part that hangs from the tree. If you are getting married outside in the summer you could leave them on, and still hang them from trees. There are so many possibilities! It takes a little imagination, and sometimes a little modification holiday items, but the end result can be breathtaking
