Her Heart Is Pure Love
Our world could use a few more souls like Shannon
Her heart is pure love.
She began years ago while still working at McDonalds, saving pop tabs. She would turn them in and McDonalds used them to help fund programs for the Ronald McDonald House.
Shannon hasn't worked at McDonalds for a long time now. But she still collects these pop tabs. She went around last night at a family get together and found some and put them in my purse for safekeeping.
I just opened her door to say goodnight and found her folding her last load of laundry. And then I came to the study to take care of a few things before going to bed. I opened my purse and lying on the bottom of it were all these pop tabs.
Such a small thing, I guess. But seeing them there in my purse, knowing she cared enough to collect them and put them someplace safe made me smile.
She doesn't see herself as a Down Syndrome person and therefore, lacking in anything. But her heart sees the good that these silly pop tabs can do for others who aren't as lucky as Shannon is.
We get few chances in this world we live in to see pure, unconditional love.
Tonight, I got the chance.
