It could be the loss of challenges and sacrifices to overcome, the gradual withdrawal of passion, or perhaps the fact that after some time, couples begin to get a bit too ''comfortable'' after getting too well accustomed to each other, but it just appears that sooner or later, the good old days of romance will have eventually gone out the window.

Indeed for many seasoned couples, gone are the days where that kiss sent chills down the spine, where the romance of an evening stroll holding hands was a much looked forwarded to event, where hours were spent talking in front of a crackling fire. However, the good news is that romance does not die, rather, it can come back to pay couples a visit every now and then, if only they decide to work together on rekindling it.

It ultimately really does not take much to add a touch of romance to a marriage. There are many special ways to step back and feel that''fuzzy feeling'' of love like the old times. The best part, is one does not have to spend a fortune to get that feeling back. Couples do not need to spend thousands of dollars on a cruise to Alaska or hundreds of dollars on a bottle of expensive Champagne. Rather, at times, romance will fill up the air without even spending a penny. It all comes down to appreciating each other, creating tension and enjoying the moment. Following are some ideas that may bring back a healthy dose of romance.

Ways to Spice up Marriage

~Organize a Date

Do you remember the good old days when dates were much anticipated events? That special thrill of anticipation may be reset by organizing a date. It does not have to be anywhere exceptionally fancy, even a modest restaurant will do. The most important thing is to get ready separately and meet in a specific place. This will recreate the thrill of getting dressed up for one another and meeting like the old times.

~Cook Together

Cooking together is a great way for re-creating a sense of intimacy and complicity. Choose a recipe (it can also be one of the aphrodisiac ones) and prepare it together. Create as well, a romantic spot to eat it after wards. Use the best dinnerware and table clots,  place some fresh flowers in the center, put some music on and prepare a candle lit dinner.

~Rent a Cabin

Renting a cabin in the woods, may bring back a touch of romance thanks to the natural settings a place like this offers. Preparing a crackling fire, enjoying breath taking views and walking up trails will bring back a sense of closeness that one may have taught was forever gone. However, what really counts is being together and enjoying some good quality time, all the rest is a simply a pretty backdrop.

~Watch the Stars

A delightful evening, crickets singing and a starry night. What better recipe for a romantic night? Grab that blanket and hold each other as you talk about how great it is to enjoy each other's company. Just make sure to cover up with lots of mosquito repellent and the evening will be entirely yours to enjoy!

~Offer Massages

No, you do not have to schedule an appointment to that special Spa or massage center, rather you and your spouse will be the ones that will treat yourselves to a great massage. All you need is some special lotion and you are then ready to offer some special foot massages, relaxing shoulder massages, and full-body massages to your spouse. This will relax and create the ideal grounds for intimacy.

~Surprise with a Gift

A gift is always well appreciated especially when it comes as a surprise. Out of nowhere,  and for no apparent reason, show up with some long stem red roses, a box of chocolates or a pretty necklace. For men, a DVD of their favorite show, a handy man gift or a gift certificate to their favorite store may be a great gift. The point is to communicate how appreciative one is for the existence of the other.

~Compliment Your Spouse

Sometimes appreciation for the other can be demonstrated in more subtle yet, still effective ways. Tell your friends in presence of your husband how great he is with the kids or how you love it when he cooks a meal for you. Or in case of a husband, tell your friends how proud you are of your wife for still being so beautiful and keeping so well in shape.

As seen there are several ways to sprinkle some romance in a marriage and spice it up a notch. Rekindling romance is time really worth spending, because reconnecting with your loved one is ultimately a great investment that will certainly pay back because it  creates the building blocks of a stronger and more lively marriage.
