Tips and tricks to plan the perfect bridal shower!
If This Is Your First Time:
Planning a bridal shower seems like a lot of work, especially If you’ve had no prior experience whatsoever. So in this article, I will be sharing how I planned my sister's bridal shower and maybe you can be inspired by an idea or two.
Deciding The Theme:
The first step for you to start setting up is deciding the theme. The theme should be based on your Bride’s interests. For example a movie she’s into, or a character she really likes. It could also be a certain colour combination or perhaps an era like the 80s or 90s.
In our case, my sister was always very fascinated by the Jane Austen era. Jane Austen is a writer known for her popular novels like ‘Pride and Prejudice’, ‘Emma’, ‘Sense and Sensibility’ among others. So guess what our theme was? Austen. Everything from the photo booth to the decorations and the food was Georgian era inspired.
The Guest List:
You need to choose your guest list very carefully. This event is about the bride, so only invite the people she is closest to or the ones she has an understanding with. This may include her friends, family and her closest colleagues.
The Photo-Booth:
If you want to make your event a success, you definitely need a lot of good pictures. So why not create a proper photo booth to assure that. In my case, I created large frames along with big cutouts of Silhouettes of Mr Darcy and Elizabeth Bennet from the novel Pride and Prejudice. I also added a tag that said "Chapter 3 The Wedding" for added effect.
The Food:
For this, you must first decide the time of the day in which you’re planning the bridal shower. After that, you have to divide the food items amongst all the brides’ maids. If it’s a tea party you need food items like cupcakes, bagels, doughnuts and most importantly a cake. By dividing the responsibilities amongst the bridesmaids, you can focus on the decorations, which is the next important step.
The Decorations:
The most important thing in your bridal shower is your setup and decorations. I will tell you what we did so you have an idea. I kept little frames all over the place containing famous quotes from novels like Pride and Prejudice and Emma. Other than that I made wall hangings of silhouettes of different characters in the world of Austen. As for the table setting, we arranged round tables with pastel coloured sheets and a little centrepiece according to the theme.
The Dressing:
You can keep a colour code for the clothes or the style of the dresses. We opted for long skirts/long dresses so everyone felt included. We went for big curly hair and long-winged eyeliners. You can also do your hair and makeup according to your theme.
The Games:
The thing that makes your bridal shower fun is the games. You can play as many games as possible but remember time management is important. What we did was that we divided all the bridesmaids into four teams and each team chose their bride. They were given a specific length of time, for example, three minutes and in those three minutes, you had to make a bridal dress for your bride with ribbons only. In the end, the team that managed to create the best dress wins.
These are some of the ideas, however, you can add some segments according to your theme. Hopefully, you found this helpful. And remember the most important thing is to enjoy yourselves, even if the event does not go as planned.
