Little Things Don't Mean A Lot
Little Things Don't Mean A Lot
Little things don't mean a lot. Little things mean everything. As it is written, "He that is faithful in what is least will be faithful in what is most." But what does it mean to do the little things? Little things can sometimes mean holding a door for someone, whether male or female, whether child or adult. It can also be something done that will free up another person and enable them to do something grander.
A little thing can be simply telling a friend how pretty she is today or how well dressed she may look. A little act or a kind word may unknowingly pull someone out of a rut or even depression. A little thing can be complimenting someone who held a meeting at a business setting or a pasture at church after a sermon. A little thing may not be able to be seen but felt. It may not be felt right away but wasn't done for acknowledgement.
A little thing can be the changing of a flat tire for someone who may not be able them self. A little thing can be just letting someone onto the highway so they can do something for someone else. A little thing can be speaking up for someone. Things that seem little may feel really big to the person receiving it.
Those who do the little things do so without thought. They do it just because. They often are ordinary human beings doing ordinary things; little things. Saying thank you can be a little thing. Why don't people worry about the little things? Usually, it is because they don't believe it is worth something small. And outcomes of little things may never be realized but those who do little things for others on a constant basis feel compelled to do so.
A little thing can be a hand written note for someone. A little thing can be giving directions to someone who is lost. A little thing can be holding her hand without her asking. A little thing can be a prayer said for someone. A little thing can be waiting for someone. A little thing can be having patience. A little thing can be going out and vote. A little thing can be taking flowers to grandmother.
A little thing can be taking out the trash for a friend. A little thing can be telling a child hello. A little thing can be listening to someone speak. A little thing can be taking a young boy to a ball game. A little thing can be reading a story to a group of children. A little thing can be complimenting someone's cooking. A little thing can be teaching a child to tie his shoes.
Without the appreciation of little things how would we ever know about the big things?
