Never Happened

Updated on December 3, 2010

It couldn't have happened

Knowing what we knew

Why...how could...?

No.

It must be a dream.

A spark of desire.

Fanned and fueled by the air around us,

A mirage maybe.

Seeing the same thing that was never really there.

It makes sense doesn't it?

It was a fog of some sort.

You can get drugged sometimes

by things.

If you breathe them in

forgetting to exhale...

Thoughts and logic

Don't they always trump?

A mist carried by a breeze...

It was a dream,right?

Asleep without knowing it.

We pieced it together,

Afterwards.

The touch of fingertips and quiet glances...

Made it seem...

Between the two of us,

a magic hardening in our memories,

made it seem like it was real.

Melting in heat and hardening with the cold.

It never happened.

How could it?

With people like us...

It just doesn't ...

It could never have happened.

Good thing we never danced together much.

I would hate to hear a song

And think of you.

You know I read this too fast the first time and when you said, "trump" I thought you said, "hump". I have to Jess say that. You know me.

Seriously, though, you describe a very special moment, transcendent and beautiful.

True poetry, your words speak of the song that was never played, and thankful of never having to hear those words.

A relationship that ended, and yet still bears the pains of what could have been, and what might have been.

      I enjoy your dark poetry.

      Blessings,

      Laurie
