Rekindling Old Friendships
Recently I have come back into contact with a really good friend of mine. We stopped talking because of issues of the past. We reconnected when he sent me his CD. He is an aspiring rapper and I always knew he would do it.
We reconnected and he has been helping me with a lot I have been going through and it has been nice. It is crazy to think we would ever be talking again, but we do. We make the point to talk everyday at some point. Whether one of us works, we at least see how each others day is.
Most of the friends that I have been friends with for years don't even do that. Most of the time I have to make the effort to start and keep a conversation going with them. With him it isn't that way. It's like we have known each other our whole lives, and we are life long friends. It is insane to think about, but I have come to realize something.
It doesn't matter how long you have known a person, it is all about persons character when it comes to friendships and relationships.
It has been nice to have someone ask me about my day, and just checking in on me. I do the same for him. We ask each other about our significant others, work, life, and anything else that may or may not be going on. It is amazing to have a friendship like this again.
Sometimes we lose friends because both of the people weren't ready for each other in their lives yet. We haven't grown enough to be friends. But, if they come back it is a meant to be friendship.
It's like that old saying, "If you love something let it go, if it comes back it was meant to be, if it doesn't it never was." I live by this saying with anything, family, friends, relationships, etc. It has shown me who is really meant to be in my life and who isn't.
