Meeting with Childhood Friends!
Reuniting Over Lunch!
I just recently was contacted by a dear childhood friend through the great website- facebook.com. By using this great tool it has given me the chance to reconnect with my past; it has opened a portal into my childhood. This has brought forth a part of me that is getting harder to remember. I am meeting with two childhood friends for lunch this coming Sunday. It has been about 34 years since I last layed eyes on Lorrie and Judy.
Cartwheels at Judy's
These friends remember me as a skinny, freckle faced, flat chested girl. I have expanded in every direction since then; I stopped growing in height many years ago but my width continues to expand! I am looking forward to meeting up with them; we have a lot of catching up to do. Its funny how time does seem to fly by; it seems not that long ago that we were all doing cartwheels in Judy's yard with not a care in the world. The only concern we had then was doing a proper cartwheel! Judy was a great gymnast and teacher to Lorrie and me. We tried our best to emulate Judy's great talents. My days of doing cartwheels are long past but I look back on those times with great fondness.
Cartwheels of Joy Inside my Head
They are both mothers now; their children are young adults. I myself never had children due to health reasons; my pets are my children. Some of my friends are even grandmothers now; again time has a way of just flying by. I feel so fortunate to have this opportunity to reconnect with my childhood friends; hopefully staying connected from here on in. That's what I love about the new technology we have today; being able to send a friend a quick email letting them know they are in your thoughts. In the fast paced world we live in today we don't always have the time or the energy to see friends face to face. Instead we can send them an email which keeps us connected to those who are dear to us. Lorrie is from a town called "Erin" and Judy is from "Orangeville" they are driving to "Kitchener" (my hometown) to meet up with me. I don't drive so I was delighted when Lorrie told me they had decided to come and visit me. I know I will be doing cartwheels of joy in my head when I finally get to reunite with my two childhood friends!
