Running to Tomorrow
Updated on October 21, 2012
intense and short term but now in tattered pieces
hands still bleeding from trying to rebuild it
i thought if i stayed a bit longer i might recapture it
more the stupid fool, never realizing
now all that's left to do is burn the bridges
retrace the steps to my old life
lick my wounds in earnest
kill it, just kill it
so much for the melodrama
i can hear the world shouting
im just a tiny pebble
i must hold it together
so im back in the pink
i have chased out all the darkness
the sun is blindingly beautiful
the world an enchanted forest
i'm leaving my cliched life behind
dusting off the dirt and grime
a long bath, a warm drink, a deep sleep
running towards tomorrow
