Stop discussing people and start discussing ideas

Updated on June 18, 2015

A wise man once told me that small minds discuss people, while great minds discuss ideas. I never grasped that concept until recently, and this is one of my most recent goals to accomplish--- " stop discussing people and start discussing ideas." As a people we get so consumed into appearance and materialistic things that we tend to judge others before even getting a chance to know them. This is something that really bothers me because I have met great people who I would have never gotten the chance to truly know if I judged them based off their appearance.

Another thing is sometimes it can be the people around you who constantly do things that upset you or bring down your spirit. And I understand that talking to them isn't enough sometimes. Don't stress yourself, give it up to God. So many times I have went back and spoken negatively about someone/something that bothered or upset me and I realized it became a pattern and would only get worse. Once I began separating myself and taking my issues to God and asking him for help, not only did my spirit feel better and lighter, but also my situation. I had a different perspective. I began to have a clearer view of what God was trying to do in my life. I stop putting so much emphasis into people and situations and started putting my energy into prayer instead. When you work on talking to God about your problems and utilizing prayer he will begin to place other things on your heart, things that are productive and positive. I want to promote creative thinking and using your situation to create a world you would like to see/ experience. I want my readers to realize that by entertaining negative people and situations only foster these things to grow bigger and bigger and only continue to negatively impact ones life. Once you understand this cycle and put more energy into positivity and taking the higher road you can focus on new ideas and things you are positive about. Stop giving your power away.

Trust me, I know it can be hard. People and life in general can weigh down very heavily on you. Don't allow anyone/anything to stress you and take you from what God has planned for you. It takes time, but time heals all and it's well worth it in the end. If you don't like something instead of spending so much time complaining and talking about it, put your energy into positive thinking and what you can do to rectify this issue/situation. Your situation is only used to make you better and during this you develop the skills and techniques necessary for whatever he has planned for you. Be you, promote love, let go of what has hurt you, think outside the box, and be passionate about what you enjoy. Don't let your emotions take control. Tell yourself you're not mad and focus on being happy and only giving your time to time to to things/people that make you happy. Create the world you want to experience, speak things into existence. You got this! Remember you are beautiful and God loves you! You ultimately control your situation so don't feed into the negative, speak life into yourself and your situation and what you want it to be. Great things are in store!

Until next time,

Tierra Navia

Lovely thoughts - thanks for sharing! Indeed, if we can learn to put positive energy into prayer, we can stop giving power to negative people.
