I have written over 4,000 poems and 1,000 songs and yet I am still searching for that perfect poem or song which eludes me.

The Wonder Of Love Through The Eyes Of A Child.

Not a Barbie or Ken doll
these two standing here
this dress up is different
cause mom 's shedding tears.

The crowd sits all silent
expecting the best
the preacher's got papers
that look like a test .

The bride is so nervous
her Dad's face is flushed
but she smiled at him sweetly
I could tell he was crushed.

He kissed her cheek gently
the whole room was hushed.

This must be what true love is
to give up your little girl
and allow her to struggle
in her precious new world.

The groom's a bit sweaty
he prefers to wear tees,
but I heard when he asked her
he was down on his knees.

The Mom's are together
sharing Kleenex and sobs
I guess that it's hard
giving up your best jobs,
raising kids is task
that is tough to let go
but they'll soon have some new kids
they can play with.... you know.

The bridesmaids are pastel
in colors of spring
the best man is carefully
guarding the ring.

It's not at all like

when I play with my dolls
setting up a nice house
with the stuff bought in malls.

Or the times I played house
with a boy on my street,
this feels much warmer
this feels complete.

In every girls heart
they all dream of this day
and they want it to go
in so special a way.

For now I'll still play house
filling tea cups with cream
and pretend I'm a bride
in a dress that supreme.

But I hope that you both
find and finish each dream,
those you started at my age
when eyes held the same gleam
at the wonder of true love
in an innocent mind,
keep the wonder..
and the dreams
what you seek
you will find.

God bless you

and your marriage
for the rest of all time
Happily ever after
like the storybook kind!
