The Award

Updated on August 8, 2011

Thank you all so much for your support to the hubbing community, as when I told you all about the exhibition last year you all gave some lovely comments and words of support.

Now I can show you what I went to do and the exhibition.

For the holocaust memorial day of remembrance 2011 (Jan 27th) I set up an exhibition for the LGBT untold stories, It was an exhibition based on my articles and thesis that I wrote about the homosexual victims of the holocaust and the horrible things that were done to them by the Nazis.

I wrote a time line that began from 1800s right through to present day telling the story of how the LGBT got our rights in England, America & Germany and how times have changed and the equal status we now have in society from the illegal status we once knew.

My Exhibition has been shown in the Lesbian & Gay Foundation (LGF) which is a branch of stonewall in Manchester (north west England) and recently my exhibition was shown at Blackpool Gay Pride in June, I did all the research for 15yrs from I was merely ten years old and I never expected the award that I received from the LGF but on the day they presented me with it I cried, because I had never been given any thing like that before in my life, I won the Homo Heroes Award which is an award given to people who fight and educate those against homophobia and Racism.

I have placed a photograph of my award and also my exhibition so that you can see the panels that I created many of these panels you will find as articles on my page such as: Christopher Isherwood, Homosexuals Forgotten Victims, Dr Carl Vaernet, Dr Magnus Hirschfeld. to name a few.

Thank you so much for commenting..

I know how you feel the d.william my country is starting to go the same way, our government has been thinking about scraping our equality bill, and our equal rights he even sided with a bigot over a row (I dont know if you heard about in the US) about our right to go to hotels as a couple and now legally hotels can refuse gay couples thanks to MR Cameron.. I hope things get better in your country too, and these religious people do not spread the word of god only that of bigotry and hatred their hypocrites a true christian is acceptant and welcoming to all and does not judge or persecute.... Those people who do are misguided fools and extremists..

Thank you so much for the link too, it was a such a sad time then when it was secret and jail-able if you got caught. I hope we never go back to that...

I am a lot older than you and remember well those days of meeting secretly. Although times have changed some, we are not out of the woods yet (or rather completely out of the closet). The crimes against gays have increased dramatically here in the U.S. since the religious zealots have gotten their feet entrenched into government positions. But, i never thought for one minute that i would ever see as much openness in my life time, or ever be this close to attaining equality in the U.S. We are still very far behind other countries in acceptance. This country is running rampant with religious bigots who preach hatred daily in the name of their gods.
