The Ice Queen

Updated on January 4, 2011

The Ice Queen rules with a hand of steel

Captures her prey, she will make no deal

Glittery gray eyes shine hypnotic appeal

Takes the love of a friend to break the seal

---------------------------------------------------

The Ice Queen has skin with a frosty feel

Blueblood frozen concoction of congeal

One touch is sufficient to induce the unreal

Takes the love of a friend to break the seal

---------------------------------------------------

The Ice Queen demands all subjects kneel

Voice of reason chokes on the meal

No heart, no fear, your’s she will steal

Takes the love of a friend to break the seal

---------------------------------------------------

The Ice Queen hands hold the ethereal

Break and crush the fragile material

Consumes and destroys any lofty ideal

Takes the love of a friend to break the seal

---------------------------------------------------

The Ice Queen heart has nothing to reveal

Love, virtue and humanity, absent and surreal

Ice is the fuel that generates her zeal

Takes the love of a friend to break the seal

----------------------------------------------------

Thank you, Sylvia! Well, let me think...like the wicked witch of the west, "I'm melting, I'm melting"...once their power is gone, they cease to exist.

They have their initial magic, but unless you like to be blue after their blitzkrieg, run while you can. Thanks, saddlerider! As always, appreciate your visit. Stay warned and warm.

No, I'm no ice queen, that's for sure. I sometimes wish I could be. It references someone I dealt with that I extricated myself from. She did bring out the bitch in me, but with a little help from my friends, I fled her demanding clutches before my blood congealed. Thank you for stopping for a visit and your commentary, Wayne.

Can I assume this is a "self-reference"? As the "Rolling Stones" sang...you'll never break, never break, never break...this heart of stone, no, no, no, this heart of stone. Liked it! WB

Those Queenly sorts love the song "You're as cold as Ice". Therein lays there power. Those ensnared spend their days and nights "trying to please the Queen". You don't melt their hearts...warmth would end their reign. They would cease to exist or die trying. Their success depends on ego...not just their own...there is something to be gained by cohorts...feeling "they must be the best if they please the Queen" drives them onward in their fruitless quest. But, the Queen will win because she has no heart to break. Thank you for reading this and commenting, Mickey Dee. Stay warm.

I am an aquarius, Martie. I bet you would have guessed. Thank you for the translation, my friend. Language is fascinating and an amazing and awesome study that could take more than a lifetime. I have always been in complete awe at the derivatives of words...how they are connected to each other within a language and then to other languages...the inception of the written language is such brilliance...building on itself. It is a feat to rival the Great Pyramids! Enjoy your return to work as much as your holiday, Martie!

Hi Amy, my holiday is almost over. Coming Monday it is back to work for me.

Afrikaans: Tot weersiens (a more popular word is ‘totsiens’)

English: Until we see each other again (more popular: ‘goodbye’.... ‘see ya’ :)))

      German: auf wedersehn

I guess you can write a poem with all the ways to say hallo and goodbye in all languages. Take care, dear Amy. You are truly a sparkling star. BTW, what is your sun sign?

Dear Martie, I'm so glad to see you here. You will be the first for today, Wednesday, January 5th on my "grateful for" list! Now, I know I should be able to figure out "Tot weersiens", but I don't want to assume. Please tell me, my friend, so I know know the exact translation.

It would be a thrill, a "kick", if you will, to have my words set to music! Actually, Martie, just the idea is enough to make me grateful...for you and all these wonderful friends. Each one touches my heart.

I hope your holiday was the best, Martie.

In every ice queen lays a warm heart firmly sealed – it does take the love of a friend to break the seal. And what did I say about your poems/lyrics waiting for songs to be composed? Here you have it now – ManWithNoPants discovered you :)))) Tot weersiens!

If your personal Ice Queen you want to save,

Just turn up the heat, but not the microwave.

She will respond with much love and sweet kisses,

But whatever you do, sir, don't tell your missus. :)

Dearest Colin B. Demille, Only you, magnificent director, could stage a review of such monumental proportions, that take this reader to the heights of cinematic imaginings, perchance to dream in the land of The Ice Queen. But, the Queen could not live in a land of such warmth and love. But, I, a commoner, thrive and am thrilled at your words and will read and re-read...and then daydream! Epigramman, your artistry and imagination are beyond any fairytail I have ever seen and I am honored you directed it at me.

Amy, you have changed my life. Prior to meeting you I would have not spent even a minute reading this hub. Now I check every morning to see if you have written anything new. I thoroughly enjoy what you write, and have gained a new appreciation for those who have the ability to write in this style. Just wait till Jim puts this to music, it will be fantastic.

Colin B. Demille (the infamous hub film director) knows that a song is good for this Ice Queen but he also realizes that if Muddy Waters ever met the fabulous Ms. Becherer that he would get his mojo working in no time flat and that would have to lead to my directorial debut here at the Hub including a cast of thousands - yes thousands of admirers as far as the 3-D eye could see - and we need a leading lady for the part - how about Angelina Jolie - or Julie Christie in her prime and how she looked so radiant in Dr. Zhivago - wait just a minute my casting director and I are having a creative brainstorm - and he has suggested that the leading lady could be that ravishing beauty (ravishing as in a buffet of leading ladies all combined into one) and there she is - in the top right hand corner of her hub profile page wearing a cowgirl hat and leaning against some lucky car - isn't that the fabulous Ms. Becherer - and just by looking at her she melts my heart - not to mention the privilege of reading these words which seem destined to be translated into a screen adaptation of

      THE ICE QUEEN!

      All hail the Ice queen

To be heard and not to be seen

      But inside that frosty sheen

      I've seen a love machine!

This is so terrific that I am breaking out in verses!

      Love it.

Thank you for your poetic words, vietnamvet68...but, she is MEAN! She is one, cold bi-ch! She has her magic to lure the innocent into her clutches. That's what makes her so dangerous. Thanks for the poetry, vietnamvet, now I can say "I've arrived".

I freakin love it! I'm going to put it to music and see what happens. I wrote a song called Ghetto Queen. I'm going to steal the music from that and put it to this song. This has good rythm and flow, not to mention killer lyrics.
