The Narcissist Love Partner
The Narcissist in love with his own image
Narcissistic abuse; it`s time to let go !
The term 'Narcissistic' is derived from the person Narcissus in Greek mythology who fell in love with his own image seeing it in a pool of water and ultimately died unable to get a response from the image in the water. Modern day Narcissists are persons hooking up to vulnerable partners from whom they steal energy. Psychologists trace the Narcissist`s problem to neglect by an unsympathetic or domineering parent, usually the mother, in early childhood. The child feeling deprived builds an emotional wall of defense the ' False Self ' which he protects fiercely as otherwise his ' Inner Self ' which is hollow gets exposed which would spell his emotional annihilation. The Narcissist is at the beginning adoring and loving since he needs the adulation and appreciation to boost his self esteem. However as time goes by and he feels the partner is not good enough he displays the most horrendous behavior towards his love partner whom he accuses of all sorts of wrongdoing. He is cruel, manipulative, abusive and is a pathological liar. He would indulge in intense ' Gas Lighting ' to alter your perception of reality and start doubting yourself. The love partner who has her boundaries set will depart at this stage. However vulnerable women continue to cling to the Narcissistic partner in the hope that he will change. She will try to please him in all possible ways to win his approval only to end up in being abused more . Hell is no match for the Narcissists cruel ways and the partner is left to be a' Living Dead ' till a close relative or friend rescues her.
Beware of the Narcissist ! If you find your love partner has Narcissistic traits, it`s time to let go of the relationship before it causes much damage !
