The Truth About Love Spells

Updated on September 2, 2009

My Google search states that there are 14,600,000 results for the search "Love Spells". That shows me that love spells are being searched for, talked about, and advertised.

Unfortunately, there are many scams to bleed some poor lovesick person into giving money to a scheister that promises that they have love spells that are guaranteed to work. While there are some reputable magick workers that can help you, most times you will not find them advertising anything that sounds too good to be true. So, let's find out, what exactly are love spells and will they work for you.

Do Love Spells Work?

Yes and No. Using magick to realize one's desires has been in use since the dawn of time. There are spells for just about everything under the sun. Alchemy, Magick, Mysticism, whatever you want to call it, it has been used in every culture, every religion, and every part of the world.

The word "Spells" gets a bad rap for the most part. Many people assume casting spells is about satanic or evil practices, or that only a chosen few can work at spell casting. But what most people don't know is most spells are nothing more than a super charged form of setting intentions or of saying a prayer.

I won't get into religious particulars, but I will ask you to note that the Catholics and Pagans both use candles in their prayers and intentions, and for pretty much the same reasons. If a Pagan does it, it's called "Spell Work", if a Catholic does it, it's called "Prayer". Of course the Pagans take candle spells to different levels, but the main goal of there use is the same. They are used to help set an intention or get a desired outcome as one would in prayer.

The "Law of Attraction" takes the formula for concentration and focus that is used in spell work, and puts it in a way that seems a bit more socially acceptable. It talks about Universal Laws, instead of a God, Goddess or other chosen Deity. But it's truly all one in the same. Some have more bells and whistles, and some practices can take more time, effort and physical tools, but they are all about how to manifest your desires. And yes, they all work, not always in the way we expect them too, but in ways that still keep millions people seeking their benefits every day.

Now everyone can pray, everyone can learn and use the law of attraction, and everyone can learn to cast spells. What makes some people seem more gifted in these areas are usually due to practice, years of experience, and an elusive quality called belief, or faith. Believing in yourself and that you deserve what you desire in this life is particlarly relative to what you actually end up with.

Now, for the part that doesn't work

Love spells that are purported to "make" someone love you are just plain wrong. You can never take away a person's free will, ever. The sad fact is that thousands of dollars are wasted away each year on people thinking they can buy the love of another person, or to manipulate anyone at all for anything. It just doesn't work that way.

They also will not work if you believe you are not worthy. Of course we are all worthy of all the best in life, make sure you believe that to be true for yourself as well whether you are praying, casting a spell, or using the Law of Attraction.

So, How do Love Spells Work?

Love spells that work are about allowing yourself to increase your ability to give and receive love. Anything you do that will help you feel more loving and open to love will naturally draw more love into your life. Unfortunately that might take a lot of glamour out of the idea that some sort of magic fairy dust will miraculously bring you the love of your life, or return a lost love to you. But the good news is that realistic practices bring about realistic results.

Whenever we are looking for love, whether it's a new love, or to improve the love we all ready have, we do things. Most of those things usually entail looking at ourselves from the outside in. Perhaps we start spending more time on our hair and make-up, or wearing extra sexy lingerie to help increase the levels of desire our parnter feels for us. Those are very common, and actually necessary ways to attracte love our direction. In fact, my business, caters to many people that are looking to help spice up their love life as singles and as married couples, so I see this in action every day and see how well it can work.

Love spells also help create an attraction by helping you work on the inner parts of yourself as well. Opening your heart to receive love that is all ready there for you is a HUGE one. You see, you can't just wish for someone else to come along and make things perfect for you. You cast your spell, or say your prayer, or your intention following the law of attraction, then you must, I repeat, must do leg work.

Let's take a spell as an example. This spell is used in an all ready established relationship. Say for example, you and your partner love each other, but those loving feelings seem far away as maybe you've been arguing a lot over silly things, or one or both of you have become so busy with other things in life that your relationship has taken a back seat and you are ready to revive it. So we'll call this spell, "Remember the Love" spell.

Remember the Love Spell

  • Any sort of red candle
  • Three hairs from your beloved, or at least their picture
  • A pen
  • Olive oil that has been strained through rosemary leaves (You can buy these at any grocery store and that is fine)
  • A match preferably, but a lighter will do

You want to do this spell when you'll have at least twenty minutes of uninterrupted time to yourself. Most magick practitioners will suggest three in the morning, but there is no need to stay up or wake yourself up, just pick a time that feels best to you.

Start by writing your full name and birth date on the candle and do the same with your partner's name and birth date. Light the candle and stroke it with the olive oil while you think about how much you love your partner. Get a firm focus on your partner and allow yourself to dive deep into your emotions of love and desire that you have for them.

While you are allowing all these wonderful thoughts and feelings to come up, send them out to your partner. Continue to do this for as long as you can keep your attention. You may then allow the candle to burn out, or put it out gently.

Now, carry those loving feelings with you especially when you are spending time with your partner. The goal is that our partner will also remember what you are remembering about the love you share and that your relationship will get back to the desired place.

Will it work?

Do the leg work and find out on your own. Even if your partner doesn't come around right away, you keep doing what you need to do. Light the candle often to help you reinforce this love spell.

The love spell itself will be as strong as you allow it to be. Say you make a whole evening out of it, take a long bath, put on cologne you know your partner loves, and make yourself feel special and beautiful. Relive those feelings and how you took care of yourself when you felt that way, just like you did when you were enjoying your love together fully. Then you light the candle and you can carry that focus with you even though your partner is still acting distant or even surly. What then? Do you see how the spell casting isn't really hocus-pocus hooey at all, but it can still be some very magickal stuff.

As far as hiring someone else to do magick for you? Sometimes if it's an ethical practitioner, and sometimes if you follow their instructions, it will work amazingly. If you are really interested though, in love spells or any other spells, you would be better off finding someone that would teach you how to do it for yourself.
