The Law of Attraction and Attracting a Mate

Updated on August 10, 2014

The Law of Attraction and Attracting a Mate

I'm sure you have heard the buzz about ‘The Secret'. The ‘secret' is the Law of Attraction. The Law of Attraction states that you'll attract to your life whatever you give your attention, energy and focus to, whether wanted or unwanted--emphasis on the unwanted. The "vibes" that you put out (also called vibrations) are either negative vibes or positive vibes, and at every moment, the Law of Attraction is responding to the vibes you are offering by giving you more of the same, whether wanted or unwanted. It is based on the premises that we are beings made of energy, which is proven by science, and that our universe is also made of energy, again proven by science. So therefore, when we put out our energy to the Universe, (call it what you like, creator, the universe, god, etc) that same energy comes back to us. So if you put out constant negative energy, it comes back to you as negative. Pretty much is "What goes around comes around" idea.

So we as people need to look at our lives and see what types of vibrations we are sending via our energy. Energy is defined, in my opinion, as the things we speak, dwell upon, concentrate on, etc. For example, if you focus on the fact that you have more bills than you have income and that is all you focus and worry about, then more worry and bills and not any more income will come back to you. Make sense?

A good exercise to do is to simply take a look at your life, write down the things that you know you focus on, the things that you think about most and either worry about or are confident about. Look at those things after writing them down and think of how those things are more prevalent in your life instead of the things you want.

See the connection? Worry about bills, and more bills come. Worry you don't have enough income and you will not have more income. So if that theory is true, then the opposite is also true. Are you frequently negative and also have negative friends?

Focus on having (not wanting) more income and more income producing things will come into your life. Focus on having good relationships and those people will come into your path. It is up to us to recognize these things and act upon them! Focus on being a positive person and other positive people will come into your life.

This is the basis for the Law of Attraction. By shifting your focus and attention to what you do want, then you'll change the results accordingly.

Want to know how to attract an ideal mate? Start by building a list of all the things you did not like about your current or last relationship. For example, if your list of negative things about a past relationship includes that they did not take you to dinner, spend time with you, did not uplift you, or spent too much time away from the relationship, now you'll be able to see why you're attracting this. Your list makes it clear, remembering that whatever you place your attention to; you'll get more of it.

The Law of Attraction can only bring to you what you give your attention, energy and focus to, so change what you're focusing your attention on by asking yourself, 'What do I want?'

When you catch yourself thinking or focusing on what you do not want, in that very moment, state what you do want. The words and the vibration will change. Only you can change those negative vibrations to positive!

In the example list of what you did not like about your last relationship, turn that around now and ask yourself "What do you want?" Your new list should look like this: "My ideal mate takes me to dinner often, spends time with me, uplifts me, and spends time at home." Can you see the difference?

It's this feeling, or "vibe" that the Law of Attraction is responding to. Does this Make sense? I encourage you to try it. Shift your attention to what you do want and know in that moment the Law of Attraction is responding to your vibration. The results just may astonish you!

The Church has largely ignored the spiritual principle of the Law of Attraction, but the Bible is full of examples of it. It's time for me to stop begging for the answers to my prayers, and begin to use the principles that God has already made available for me to use to get manifestations, such as my honey (mate) and my money! And it's time for Christians to stop being afraid of these principles.

You hit it on the nail when you said to write down what you love about your life currently. You can use the law of attraction to attract all kinds of loving people into your life.
