Top 3 Reasons Why Women Watch Lifetime and Men Watch Spike TV.

Updated on September 2, 2009

Lifetime is one of the most popular women's channel on Television. With movies like Gracie's Choice and shows like Army Wives it's no wonder so many women watch the channel. The Lifetime Channel is about empowerment and has real life lessons. It is perfect for the nurture of are brains of "Never ending thought. Women is to Lifetime as men is to..Spike. Our counterpart. I'm sure everyone women has gone flicking through the television to get to some man giving advice like this "Hey guys! When your girlfriend is pissed the only way to make them happy is to have sex with them." Next thing you know your boyfriend, who obviously has a lack of common sense, has jumped on top of you after you yelled at him for a whole hour about the toilet seat again! These channels are pretty different. But they also share common advertisement and give men and women a sanctuary of things that they enjoy.

Half Naked
Half Naked

Shirtless Men V.S. Half Dressed Women

These channels give each of us something to drool over. Sex sells. And these to channels sell it well. Lifetime movies have men running around half naked some of the time...Talk about Sanctuary. Sometimes its nice to watch a romantic movie- Maybe a plot where a women and a man are having problems but then end up working things out with a night of passion. The guy is usually muscular and has a very gorgeous smile- and sometimes you can use your imagination and put yourself in the same situation. FUN!

On Spike TV you have half naked women running around. Maybe some scenes where the women "just happens" to be wearing a white t-shirt and it "just happens to rain" HA! For the people who are lacking in the common sense area, This is no coincidence.

I am going against my gender on this one, By saying any feminist who gets mad about such things like that on spike shouldn't be so hypocritical if they are yelling "tit off!" atthe sexy tan with the six pack on Lifetime. There is always a double standard and sorry to break it to you lady's but we do it too. So if your boyfriend is drooling over the half clothed Tyra Banks don't get mad. I'm sure your sitting next to your own puddle of drool over the hottie with the amazing body above her.

Chick Flick V.S. Action

Lifetime movies are movies that make us cry. I like to let out my emotions sometime. Tears of joy are the best kind. And I tend to have a few of those rolling down my cheeks after a touching Lifetime movie. Spike TV has the action pact movies like Terminator and Fast and the Furious

I must say When it comes to movies I watch both of the channels. Action movies are a lot of fun to watch with your boyfriend/girlfriend (If they are in to that). They are easy to get into and Spike has the best ones on all the time. Lifetime is a nice mother and daughter or best friends type of thing. It is also good for when you want to make your boyfriend do something you want. Just for fun

Remember: This show has no advice! It's for COMEDY!

They Both Send Out a Message

Both channels give messages to the gender it pertains to.Lifetime's messages are usually inspiring. Like the movie with Alexa Vega. In the movie she plays a high school girl who is turned on. The movie teaches women to stand up for themselves. Especially young girls. High School girls can be cruel and unforgiving. Lifetime is about women empowerment. The shows give women the chance to let out their emotions and strength themselves. Then there is Spike..Well. I'm going to have to go back to what I was saying with the "have sex with your girlfriend and she'll stop being mad."...What kind of advice is that? I have heard some of the most ridiculous things come from that channel. Like "The Man Show" The name basically speaks for itself. I think that Spike TV basically helps men learn what beer is the best beer and obviously how to make your girlfriend want to dump you. So word of advice: If your girlfriend is mad..Pop one of her favorite Lifetime movies in the DVD, blueray, whatever. Do NOT slip your hand down her pants.

The better Decision

I guess it varies. Things like gender and personality make a big difference. I happen to like Spike and Lifetime movies. I'd have to say when it comes to the overall message that Lifetime would be my choice. But that's basically based on "The Man Show" and the worlds dumbest advice.

Day 1!

@meatwado1 I mean I am not sure what to tell you? You seem pretty upset with my sense of humor. I also think you are reading into your girlfriend's actions way too much. I recommend just asking her instead of jumping to conclusions. Thank you for reading and sharing your thoughts. :-)

First off part of the problem is expressed in the first page as an example that probably occurs often. Woman yells at boyfriend for an hour about toilet seat left up. Ive had these petty arguments before, if its about female empowerment, I'm all for it, pay the mortgage/rent, fix lawnmower, take out garbage, maintain the vehicles, etc... There are women that can do it all and I respect them. The women that expects the seat to be put down after a piss and wont attempt to pull their end of the load and just bitch about petty shit for an hour, i dont care to hear it. In your opinion most, if not all men, are impulsive and ignorant. Im not offended because I feel the same way about a lot of women. On that note, I watch the history channel, international news, and some travel channel for the most part, and archer. I just happened upon this page after questioning why women watch lifetime. My current girlfriend watches lifetime a lot lately, I was looking for some scientific answer not standard female empowerment bs. I figure its because she knows I hate it and is trying to push my buttons. The movies are so predictable, and they seem to have similar plots with different actors and actresses. So i guess it is an empowerment angle she is working. Ill probably read more for awhile.

Spike, I watch you once in a while and Lifetime once in a while, but if you want to play gangland do it maybe 1 hr. a day. Nobody gives a crap about those home boys lives and you play it all day. That Psyke in St. Louis better go talk to Joyce Meyer or something cause their all pretty much lost punks and who wants to watch that all day. O' and who wants to watch your other sick show, 1,000 ways to die, I tried to watch these to shows a little bit, but they suck big you know what. You do have some good shows I watch regularly like CSI etc. and you play good movies, but put Rundown (good movie) and Star wars away for a while and expand your library. O' I most definently enjoy the Steven Seagal movies, but the problema mawn ees that I've seen them all several times and don't mind watching them again, but give it a reasonable break. Eeets not my shob mawn, eet's yoos. As far as those gangs, I leave them alone and they leave me and everybody else alone. GODSDOG, almighty!

comedy central and spike are both owned by Viacom. Same garbage, same disturbing ideas and hatred towards women! I have been trying to quit for 5 years but I get health care. When I come to my colleagues they feel the same way. I almost never tell people who I work for at social settings out of embarrassment. I cut off my cable 2 years ago and refuse to watch anything Comedy, Spike, or MTV produces! They are sexist beyond the shit programming they produce there are also sexual harassment issues that are scoffed at in the offices on Hudson Street. Be like me and boycott them! PS I was never a fan of these channels and I am a straight man that actually likes women for more than their bodies. PS any women you see on TV have had enough surgery to have undergone sex changes so how is that liking a woman in the first place? If it isn't real it isn't female!

I can't stand the shows on spike tv. Shows like mansters... Are men really that disgustingly impersonal? I am against anything that has no purpose other than the objectification of women for the impersonal entertainment of a mans penis. So many women have been compromised and shows and movies with themes like that have been putting women in that light. Lifetime doesn't objectify people sexually at the sane rate as spike. If a show for men is solely based on such abc 123 themes than it says about which gender lacks complexity and intelligence.

The Man Show is a Comedy Central show, not Spike, and Lifetime has more dangerous propaganda than the Al Jazeera network.

The Man show is funny! I haven't watched Spike TV, but any girl hanging with guys will trail along for the company if it means watching some pumped up beef sandwich. Sometimes it's all there is to look at! Tyra rules! : )

I got tired of watching "The Man Show" after one season or so. It just got a bit corny to me after a while, but I know some cave-dudes that watch it for inspiration or something. But maybe I'm weird. I like shows like "Top Chef" and "Ramses Kitchen Nightmares." I'm still trying to figure out why. I really like your humor, by the way, and like your hubs even more. Thanks!
