Updated on September 12, 2011

Twenty Dates for $ 20 or less!

It may sound strange but, I am convinced that this is the best way to go. It is better than a night of guilt provoking fattening food and a bill you cannot really afford. So, don't let a bad economy ruin your love life. Use these tips for having a great time with that special someone.

Cherry Plains State Park

Pack a cooler of sandwiches and frozen strawberry lemonade and head for the beach. Spend the day strolling a shady glen, hike under the hemlocks or just soak up the sun on the beach. The historic site was built by the Conservation Corps after a flood. Price $7 a car and boat rental only $5

The Plaza

Start the evening with a tour of the many modern art sculptures by the pools. You can catch a free concert there or walk to Lincoln Park pool for an after dinner swim.Lincoln Park pool is directly behind the museum. You can check out the church on the corner that is always open to visitors. Or try bringing a bag with chilled white wine and serve it in tall glasses on the upper deck of the State museum. The skyline view is spectacular.

Alive at Five is always a great time.

Breakfast at the gardens in Washington Park. Sit by the flower garden south east of the statue of Moses.

Burden Museum Night out. Free local annual cookout.

Hit the local garden store. Buy roses and go home and plant them. Very romantic.

Five River evening walk. Delmar,NY

Rensselaer City boat launch. Stroll the pebbled covered beach on a lazy afternoon. Bring cell phone. Best time to go is when the tide is out.

Lark Street Cafe and tour the art galleries.

Discovery Center on Rt.155 at the Pine Bush. Wear pants if hiking and tuck pant legs in socks before the hike. Afterwards make sure to check for ticks.

Whitbeck Memorial. Another Preserve yet, this one boasts a 250 plus year old white oak tree.

Martin Van Buren Estate, Kinderhook. Tour the home and the lovely gardens after the tour.

Hadley Mountain breath taking climb takes about three hours. Go early so you can hit the public beach in Lake Luzerne afterwards. Three hours up/1 and a half down. The most dynamic views anyone could ever hope for is on the summit. Remember, if you did not climb three hours you did not make it to the summit.

Prospect Mt. Climb the mountain trail and later swim at Shepard Park Beach in Lake George NY. Great day and a great time.

Share a night home and break out the china and lace tablecloths. Alone is never a bad idea. Many more articles to come. Look for my hubs. I am also on myspace and facebook. My novel Liberty for the Lion Shield is available @ amazon, B&N, Borders, Powell's.com, nextag, and a book store near you.
