Wedding Flowers: top three concerns
Topic: Weddings - How to Choose the Flowers for Your Wedding

Weddings are supposed to be a wonderful day that you will never forget, but getting there takes time and preparation. The more you know about a few items, the easier your wedding planning process will go. You know you need invitations, the event locations, food, music, the cake, gowns, and especially the floral arrangements of all kinds (bouquets, table arrangements, and ceremony and reception arrangements) and whatever else you want. The flowers have to be absolutely stunning and they are usually the most talked about other than the bride herself, which is why you need to have three main things in mind – a color scheme, the right kinds of flowers, and the right florist, all within your budget!
The first item you need to determine is your wedding color scheme. This determines how you want to flowers to either blend with your chosen colors (like a monochromatic scheme of magenta or lavender tones) or if you want your flower arrangements to compliment the color scheme (like navy blue dresses for your maids and burnt orange flower arrangements). It’s a tad difficult to pick out flowers when you don’t know what your colors are. No matter what color or colors you choose, flowers can be painted, or sprayed certain hues if you really want things to be perfectly matched! It’s not entirely necessary to go this route because the natural beauty of any flower arrangement is more tasteful!
Floral arrangements from bouquets to table arrangements can be hard to pick because there are so many kinds. You’ve got simple (usually very cheap) carnations to various colored roses. The real issue is your budget. Even with a tiny budget like 3-5,000 dollars, you can still have small bouquets of simple garden mixes of flower arrangements, even if you have to resort to lilies, carnations, and baby’s breath, and to add a nature vibe – ferns and twigs (after all the ‘Twilight’ films, it seems everyone wants a woodsy vibe to their special day). And because the fact that many brides are resorting to earth tones and simplistic nature themes, these can be a cheaper route for the flowers. Greens, whites, browns, and oranges are very popular these days. The hardy, sophisticated, and classic hydrangea (which can come in pinks, purples, blues, whitish-green) have been huge in the past decade. These can be a tad more pricy but if you only have 3 bridesmaids and 15 tables at the reception, it won’t be a huge tag! These babies can be fixed up with almost any flower, and look awesome.
Having a florist that is local like a ‘Mom and Pop’ type of shop is best. They will typically be more competitive because they want to stick around and in today’s economy it is imperative for these shops to stay in business. This is important as you want more detail and attention to your floral items for the big day (along with everything else) and you will find it easier than going to an overpriced florist that may specialize in large events or even your local food chain florist department. A local shop will be a more personable experience – after all it is your wedding and you want it to be a perfect day!
With these 3 thoughts in line, your flower worries should be over!
