What I have Learned About Women in Fifty Years

Updated on February 06, 2015

Learning About Women

I must have been 12 years old when I had my first serious girlfriend. In the fifty four years since then, with a brief interval, I have always been in a relationship. This includes 29 years of, I thought, a happy marriage.

I love women, I like women, I like being with women. I enjoy the company of women over that of any man. I like the chat, the chatting up, the flirtation, and all the fun of the game. This, along with love really is what makes the world go round.

In fifty years I have never counted my relationships but there have been a few. My Facebook status is 'complicated' and believe me it is.

I am a man. We are fickle creatures. So too are women. But are they?

That really is the whole question here. Just when you think you have it all sorted out in your head then something will happen and the opposite applies. At times it may be delightful and at others dreadful.

So I will continue on life's bumpy road and continuing to learn.

So What Have I Learned About Women in Fifty Years?

Nothing, Zero, Zilch, Bugger All, Nowt, Nada, Naught.

I don't suppose I ever will. Will any man ever truly understand a woman? Meanwhile I am going to have a lot of fun trying. Life really is too short.

As the saying goes "So many women, so little time."

So Many Women, So Little Time

Amen Peter, you are preachin' to the choir! I remember a comedian sayin "women, you can't live with them and you can't have heterosexual sex without them". I do love em' and it seems whenever while in a group situation I'm the one that ends up in the women's circle. I always think they have more interesting things to say. Peace!! Tom

Thanks Lizzy, fun to write. True though. I will never understand but will continue to try.

Woman comes after the man. It's nature or as creation detailed.

travel_man1971 - I believe that the woman should always come first. I am not into creation. Never heard of 'Father' nature, only Mother nature. Single virgin female animals can and do give birth. No male animal does this.

Having been married 54 years, the father of 3 daughters, I have been "surrounded" by women most of my adult life. Have I learned anything? If you treat daughters as they are growing with love, interest, tolerance and financial support, they will always be there for you. Now about my wife. Being mattied for 54 years is like having been married to many different women, because as the years pass, your relationship also changes. In our 80's, what delight that we are still best friends. Thank you Russell-D. Like you it has been mostly good for me. It still is, though very complicated.

Don't forget it is the same thing the other way round. Men who can understand them?

Great honest hub. To lose someone you love after 29 years could be very hard. I hope that you have found a place of rest, or contentment in your heart and being in never ending embraces of caring others. Happy Thanksgiving and GBY

stars439 - I do have the contentment now. Life plans out. I always said the best thing ever in my life was getting married but today, even though it hurt like hell at the time, the second best thing I ever did was getting divorced.
