When You Look at Me......
What do you see
when you look at me?
The lines in my face
or my eyes filled with glee?
Do you look any deeper
or is it only surface you see?
Do you see the pain, the strife and the love?
Are those things obvious when
you're looking at me?
I am complex, yet simple,
happy, yet sad.
If you could look into my heart and soul
what knowledge to be had.
You would see that this heart
is gentle and kind,
filled with much love
and compassion you would find.
You would know of the pain
of the hurt I have endured.
You would feel the sweetness
of overwhelming joy and be lured....
Lured to look deeper
and get to know my soul,
lured to know others
with their stories untold.
Our lives are a series
of valleys and peaks.
So many emotions
that words cannot speak.
Speak of the pain and the
anguish we alone feel.
Speak of the love and
happiness that comes in to heal.
If only we could trully express
our feelings in words,
We would make other hearts flutter
likes the soft wings of a bird.
Then maybe, just maybe,
the spirit within us would show,
and we could treat others
with sincere empathy and know...
Know that we all have the same
glowing spirit, we all have the same song,
Just different words and different music
with verses that scream out so strong.
If we all came together and
lifted our songs to the sky,
The good and the bad,
our laughs and our cries.
Release it all and start over again,
then look at each other with eyes that would see
That the love that's uncovered
is in you and me.
Next time you look into anothers face
look past the surface, look for that trace
of what that person is really about,
see what lies inside their soul
and not just without.
If each of us would do this
on a day to day bases
then maybe the faces we
everday see
would reflect back the love in us
for the whole world to see.
Let the joy of this season
sink deep into your heart.
Look everyday for the miracles,
so big and so small,
and capture the spirit right from the start.
