Why I Chose to Write on HubPages
I Have A Lot To Say
You might’ve noticed I started out on HubPages by publishing a Covid-19 article; I felt the need to speak my peace (for now) on the subject given the fact that it’s over shadowing our entire lives at the moment. But my writing won't be focused on Covid-19 in the future.
I want to give you my unfiltered and exposed experiences— without giving away my real identity, of course.
You see, this isn’t my first time sharing pieces of myself with the world, but, this is the first time I’ve done so, without connecting those pieces to my identity.
Doing so gives me strength, and the freedom I need, in order to be honest.
If I were totally, inexplicably, me, there’s no telling what hell would ensue.
So instead, I am “Sagery Binx” a play on an old favorite of mine, Thackery Binx from Hocus Pocus, anyway, that’s unimportant, what matters, is that Sagery Binx is as me as I can possibly be here, which may be more me than I’ve ever been.
I’m eager to share my life in hopes that someone, somewhere, will be helped by it. I want everything I've gone through to be worth it to someone, anyone, other than myself.
I want my story to mean something to someone, mean something in the way that the memoirs I read growing up meant something to me. They helped me cope, helped me survive, gave me the smallest slivers of hope I was desperately searching for.
If they made it through, so can I, right?
So, if I make it through, so can someone else, right?
Let's hope so!
Might as well use this as the ice breaker into who, and what, I am too.
I am gender-fluid non-binary, and I do identify as transgender. I am also pansexual.
I'm disabled in several ways. The primary physical disability is Hypermobility Spectrum Disorder (HSD), commonly known as Ehlers Danlos Syndrome (EDS).
The primary mental disability is severe anxiety with agoraphobia.
We will leave it at that for now.
Why HubPages
I’d like to get into why I am even here writing in the first place.
I’m a quite complicated person and I've had a life to match.
I grew up wanting to write a memoir, and I very well still may, but for now I have got to let the writing bug inside of me, out.
I am a natural born writer and it's a great outlet for me.
I tried out the site Vocal for about a week but had an unfortunate experience with their editor. As in, the part of the site that you use to create and edit drafts.
I used the "shortened" link from YouTube for the video I wanted to add, but apparently that (the shortened link) causes the whole thing to crash, preventing me from seeing or editing any of my drafts, or starting new drafts.
I did a bit of looking online and found a recommendation for utilizing HubPages instead of Vocal.
Now, here I am.
The second reason I want to be on HubPages is to have a platform for my product reviews! I've been doing that for a while now but haven't had a good place to share them, so I'm glad this site makes a place for that.
