You Can't Always Get What YouWant!!
You all know that song right? Boy did they say a mouthful when they wrote it. It is so true though, you CAN"T always get what you want, but sometimes we get what we need. When the winter comes and it is so cold, cloudy and snow everywhere, we want it to be warm again and sunny. Yep, wait a few months and we get what we need. But then when it's so hot and the sun is beating down and we are sweating profusely we think of that first cold front blowing through and cooling us off. Right again just wait. But that is just human nature, we are never fully satisfied, we always want something else or something more, something better.
Why do you think that is? I think there is to much want of things that really do not make us really happy. Material things are just that, how can some thing that can't hug you, talk to you, or love you make you happy for an extended period of time. It can't! Oh it's ok initially, show off that shiny diamond ring on your finger, or that big boat looks really nice in your driveway, and wow that raise was just what you needed. But the newness wears off and what do you have? You have a ring that needs cleaning from time to time and a boat that will eventually need repairs, and before long you will be looking for more money. There's that human nature again.
But if we keep looking back or ahead we are missing the beauty and satisfaction of what is happening right now in front of us, inside of us. I think we should all be content and satisfied right where we are right now. Savor each and every moment that we can because that's where the real satisfaction comes in, enjoying who we are and what we have right now. It's true we can't always get what we want but happiness comes from the inside of us when we are happy with who we are what can we really want? It's the sweet moments that truly make us happy and we should appreciate the essence of the moment, the gift of life, the smiles from our loved ones, the breathes that we take, a touch, a hug, a quiet conversation, a rib tickling laugh, there is where the real meaning of what will satisfy us lays. Helen Keller once said, " The best and most beautiful things in the world cannot be seen, nor touched... but are felt in the heart!" So we can't always get what we want, true, but the real truth here is most times, if we look close enough, hard enough, deep enough, what we can get is even better!!!

I am also a bit lost with so many changes in the system. I´m just muddling through. Not very satisfactory is it?. I liked it when I got an e mail every time a new hub was written by someone I follow.
C´´est la vie.....
Beautiful, encouraging hub.
Sorry I´ve not been around much lately.
Hope you are ok
love, Dim xx
Lovely Hub! Glad you have been enjoying your life I am also following your lead.
We must realize that what really matter and all we really need is Jesus! Everything else will fall in place. GREAT HUB!!!! Voted-UP! I have missed you!
Singlemom , I believe we are so "programmed " in America to be always needing something , anxiety , the basis of yearning it seems. Go buy a bigger , better , faster , fly higher kind of lifestyle. If you're down today , there has to be something wrong with your marriage , you're children , you're job , you're health. Its pretty sad isn't it ? Leave it up to you to know what we really need. Just to be in the moment and enjoy life with a full heart! Bless you for a beautiful, awesome messege. Its nice to see you. I have missed you!
Thank you dear. I'll try to seize this day. God bless.
Great hub, I so agree with you and cybersister, material things really aren't that important. It's so easy to become complacent with life, sometimes we need to remind ourselves to 'stop and smell the roses' many thanks and take care
Wonderful hub. I feel the same way. Material things are just that - things. I can't say that I never enjoy buying something I only "want" not "need" occasionally, but stuff isn't what I focus on. The older I get, the less I think about what I want to have and the more I think about feeling, noticing, and experiencing life. I wonder if arriving at this point is part of the human maturing process, as I believe (from your "name") that we are about the same age. True happiness comes from within and the sooner a person realizes this the more fulfilling their life will be.
