Pregnant and Getting Married?

Planning for a pregnant wedding? It's a special situation that takes a little extra planning to make perfect.Take a deep breath, all those little details are going to get covered, and everything is going to work out just fine.

Since they still haven't invented a Time Machine yet that will let you go back in time, or to take a peek into your future and see exactly what you will need, you will just have to pre plan to insure your wedding plans are ideal.

Having a pregnant wedding?

I have some experience in this department. Before my husband and I planned our wedding, we first planned to get pregnant, knowing full well that I could be pregnant for our wedding.

The first thing I thought about was my growing little bump, and how it may not be oh so little when the wedding day arrives. You need to make sure that you have a wedding gown that will be able to stretch and support your changing body and steadily growing baby bump, not to mention the upper portions that can also get quite a bit larger during pregnancy as well. You may also want to remember all of the wonderful food and dessert you will be consuming throughout the evening as well which can also take up some space in your dress.

When I fell in love with my wedding gown, it had all of the options I was looking for, and was more than I had hoped for. The biggest thing I wanted was a corset back to give me more space. It can allow your dress to expand up to a couple of dress sizes if need be, which would be very convenient given the circumstances. My dress also had enough fabric in the seem which allowed my dress to expand an extra 2 inches as well.

When are you getting married?

Another factor that comes into play when searching for a wedding gown fit for pregnancy is weather and location. Are you getting married in the Summer, Winter... Is it an indoor our outdoor event?

Because of the hormones and extra weight of pregnancy, you tend to feel the heat a lot more, even if there is no heat to be felt. So make sure that you have a gown that will allow you to have enough air flow around you that you don't feel like you are going to pass out, or at the very least have your dream gown altered so that it helps in the comfort zone.

When I first started looking I knew I wanted a strapless dress, but I also had it in my head that I didn't want a train at all. After I saw the beautiful bead work on the chiffon part of the train on my wedding dress, I just couldn't part with it. I still didn't want a very heavy and super hot wedding dress though, so the first thing I had altered on mine was to get the very thick satin train cut off so that the only train that I had was made of the very light chiffon fabric. It not only took off quite a bit of weight, but created so much of a breathable situation where heat was concerned.

May I have this dance?

You are the bride, and everyone is going to want to have a dance with you, so make sure that if you have a train on your wedding gown, it is one that can be cinched up or removed so that you aren't tripping on your dress, you don't want to fall during any stage of pregnancy.

You also need to think very clearly about what shoes you are going to wear. Depending on what stage of the pregnancy you are in, your feet are very apt to swell and not fit those beautiful designer shoes you had picked out in the catalog. Remember that pregnancy will also take a toll on how your feet and legs feel being on them for the entire day. Whether you are used to being on your feet or not, you need shoes that will be both beautiful, and comfortable.

I had a pair of wedding shoes for my wedding day. One pair of wedding shoes I wore for my ceremony, and a second more comfortable pair of white beaded sandals, I brought with me to wear for the rest of the evening. The second pair of shoes were super comfortable, not constricting, and allowed for a lot of nice breathable air for my feet so they didn't swell up nearly as much as they could have.

Ahhh, sit and relax those feet!

So during parts of your wedding you will be allowed to sit, it's not like you'll be on your feet the whole day. When trying on a wedding dress, you need to take into consideration what it is going to feel like when you sit down. Will your dress tighten up around your stomach, or still allow you to breathe?

There are many wedding gowns out there that have stretchy fabric, perfect for a pregnant bride to feel comfortable in, no matter what situations may arise on the wedding day. These maternity wedding gowns looks gorgeous and elegant yet give you that little bit of extra room where you need it most.

I made sure to sit down while trying my maternity wedding dress on to see what available stretch it had to give.

All the little things

Your wedding day will be just perfect, whether it rains or is sunny all day. If everything goes off without a hitch, or if the best man forgets the ring in the car which happens to be across town.

There will generally always be a mishap or two throughout the wedding day, but this is what makes a wedding special, so just remember not to stress too much over the little details. This is the day you will be married to the love of your life, and soon afterwards your little one will be arriving, to make your new family unit complete.

Sometimes there are social stigmas to marrying when you are pregnant, but if you bring to your special day an abundance of love and laughter, these are the memories that will be made. Enjoy your very special day.
