Amethyst February Birthstone Jewelry Gift Ideas for a February Born Girl
Amethyst Bracelet

Amethyst
Amethyst is the February Birthstone. It is regarded by many including myself as the Princess of Gemstones. It is not only the February Birthstone but also a gemstone for the astrological sign of Pisces.
What Color is February Birthstone?
Amethyst comes in different shades of purple, deep violet, lilac, aavender, mulberry and red wine. The difference in the depth of purple is decided by the iron in the composition.
Are all the different shades of purple your favorite colors? Purple is romantic, elegant, beautiful, stunning and sexy. Does it mean a great deal of nice feelings to you too? I was looking at amethyst bracelets for a gift. As I was admiring them and finding it hard to decide which one to get, I thought it would be a good idea to share it with you. So here they are. I hope you will agree that they are such a joy to look at. You will see amethyst bracelets, anklets, pendants and amethyst jewelry sets. You may find just that something you are looking for, for a February born girl if you wish, or for a Pisces girl.

How Special is Amethyst?
Amethyst Has Long Had a Special Place in the History of Jewelry
It is a semi-precious stone in today's classifications. It is also the traditional birthstone of February, the month the Romans dedicated to Neptune, their water-god. It is not my birth month but I always find amethyst jewelry very elegant and feminine. Amethyst is also the stone of St. Valentine and faithful love so it is meaningful to lovers too.
You are about to be spoiled with choice whether you like amethyst with sterling silver, sapphire, swarovski, rhodium, white pearls or diamond. Be it a bracelet, a necklace, a ring, earrings or a set of such jewelry, I hope you 'll find something that is special enough for yourself, or that special someone. Enjoy!

Amethyst Meaning
Here is some ts fun facts about the February Birthstone.
Besides the mythical beliefs covered in the quiz above, the gemstone was also believed to chase away evil thoughts, encourage celibacy. Bishops were known to have worn Amethyst rings. As purple has also been seen as a royal color, it is part of the reason why amethyst means elegance.
A bit of Greek myth here has it that Amethyst, a beautiful young maiden was turned into a statue as a result of Bacchus' anger. Bacchus, as you know, the god of wine, one day, was insulted by a mortal and became angry. In his anger he swore to revenge on the next mortal that he would come across. He created tigers for such a revenge. The beautiful Amethyst was going to pay tribute to the goddess Diana.
In order to protect the beautiful girl from the tigers, Diana turned her into a statue of pure crystalline quartz. Bacchus had not expected to harm but harm was done. He cried and the tears came down as wine in remorse for his senseless deed at the sight of the beautiful statue. Bacchus' tears colored the quartz purple, resulting in the beautiful purple gem.
Thus, amethyst in myths was considered a strong antidote against drunkenness. It also symbolizes sobriety.

The least that I can say is that for most people, owning some amethyst jewelry will certainly uplift the spirit and bring happiness! Big smiles!
