Marry Me by Train: The Perfect Bridal Wedding Dance Song

Updated on January 13, 2012

Looking for a romantic song for the Bride and Groom Dance?

Traditional romantic songs are great for the Bridal Dance, but maybe not for this particular bride and groom. How about a love song that's a little newer, a little more current?

"Marry Me" by Train, from the "Save Me, San Francisco" album, makes a great choice for the contemporary Bride and Groom's First Dance. The monster hit "Hey, Soul Sister" is also from this album, and wouldn't that make a great rocking-the-house dance for later in the wedding reception.

Lyrics for Marry Me

Forever can never be long enough for me

Feel like I've had long enough with you

Forget the world now we won't let them see

But there's one thing left to do

Now that the weight has lifted

Love has surely shifted my way

Marry Me

Today and every day

Marry Me

If I ever get the nerve to say

Hello in this cafe

Say you will

Mm-hmm

Say you will

Mm-hmm

Together can never be close enough for me

Feel like I am close enough to you

You wear white and I'll wear out the words I love

And you're beautiful

Now that the wait is over

And love and has finally shown her my way

Marry me

Today and every day

Marry me

If I ever get the nerve to say hello in this cafe

Say you will

Mm-hmm

Say you will

Mm-hmm

Promise me

You'll always be

Happy by my side

I promise to

Sing to you

When all the music dies

And marry me

Today and everyday

Marry me

If I ever get the nerve to say hello in this cafe

Say you will

Mm-hmm

Say you will

Marry me

Mm-hmm

Amazon Customer Review: "I bought this dvd package because I wanted to learn how to dance for my wedding. I've never been that comfortable dancing free-form, so I thought learning a structured dance would be best for me. These videos definitely show you everything and explain all the dance moves in a well organized way. The instructors gave lots of details and moved at an easy pace so it wasn't difficult to get all the steps straight. Using these videos was so helpful and I'm glad I did it. When I was looking for wedding videos I discovered that this is actually the trimmed down version of the bigger 5 DVD pack, and it's much cheaper, so you really can't beat it. It's got great moves, it's a low price, and it actually teaches you how to dance. Well worth it."

Since the wedding ceremony is usually the more traditional part of the wedding day I would choose traditional music. Since the wedding reception is more contemporary, I would choose a mix of rock, pop and/or country.

    • tssfacts 6 years ago

I would have a combination of both.

While I would stick with traditional music for the wedding ceremony, I would definitely use contemporary music at the reception and for the couple dance.

Traditional or Classic is the way to go.

Don't really want to take sides here but to comment, I must. I say it totally depends on the bride and groom and what they want for their first dance together. It's a personal choice and many choose a song that means something special to them. As for the rest of the music at the wedding, that, too depends on the couple, what type of wedding they have planned, etc. For the reception, they want their guests to have a good time so I would think a good mix of music would be best including any ethnic music that fits the couple and their families.

Wow - another wedding themed lens! Love is in the air. I think that "Marry Me" is the perfect choice for a wedding song! Fantastic lens! Hey, I just published my fourth lens called the 3 Shortcuts to Happiness and would love to know what you think of it. Any suggestion will be greatly appreciated. Blessings! Sundae ;-)

Squid Angels are allowed out of their own neighbourhoods today to choose another neighbourhood to bless lenses in! As my wedding is now only a month away, I'm kind of focused on the subject of weddings to say the least, so guess which neighbourhood I've chosen to spend the day in! I just had to come back and bless this lens and say thank you again for introducing me to this lovely song - it's going to be played during my wedding ceremony (and I bet I'll cry when it is!). :D

I'm getting married in May and have been looking round Squidoo for various wedding ideas from my fellow lensmasters! I hadn't come across this song before, but it's lovely and thanks to you, I'm going to include it on my list of wedding ceremony music :)

Weddings today aren't like they used to be. I think it's up to the bride and groom to have the weddings songs that best fit them.
