Looking for a romantic song for the Bride and Groom Dance?

Traditional romantic songs are great for the Bridal Dance, but maybe not for this particular bride and groom. How about a love song that's a little newer, a little more current?

"Marry Me" by Train, from the "Save Me, San Francisco" album, makes a great choice for the contemporary Bride and Groom's First Dance. The monster hit "Hey, Soul Sister" is also from this album, and wouldn't that make a great rocking-the-house dance for later in the wedding reception.

Listen to "Marry Me" by Train

Lyrics for Marry Me

Forever can never be long enough for me

Feel like I've had long enough with you

Forget the world now we won't let them see

But there's one thing left to do

Now that the weight has lifted

Love has surely shifted my way

Marry Me

Today and every day

Marry Me

If I ever get the nerve to say

Hello in this cafe

Say you will

Mm-hmm

Say you will

Mm-hmm

Together can never be close enough for me

Feel like I am close enough to you

You wear white and I'll wear out the words I love

And you're beautiful

Now that the wait is over

And love and has finally shown her my way

Marry me

Today and every day

Marry me

If I ever get the nerve to say hello in this cafe

Say you will

Mm-hmm

Say you will

Mm-hmm

Promise me

You'll always be

Happy by my side

I promise to

Sing to you

When all the music dies

And marry me

Today and everyday

Marry me

If I ever get the nerve to say hello in this cafe

Say you will

Mm-hmm

Say you will

Marry me

Mm-hmm

Wedding Shoes for Just a Touch of Contemporary

What's better? Contemporary or Traditional Wedding music?

Here is what others have said in response to that question.

What do you think? Leave a comment at the very bottom of this article before you leave, wont you?

Contemporary. Give me Rock, Pop or Country.

purplelady: Since the wedding ceremony is usually the more traditional part of the wedding day I would choose traditional music. Since the wedding reception is more contemporary, I would choose a mix of rock, pop and/or country.

tssfacts: I would have a combination of both.

Cynthia Sylvestermouse: While I would stick with traditional music for the wedding ceremony, I would definitely use contemporary music at the reception and for the couple dance.

Traditional or Classic is the way to go.

anonymous: Don't really want to take sides here but to comment, I must. I say it totally depends on the bride and groom and what they want for their first dance together. It's a personal choice and many choose a song that means something special to them. As for the rest of the music at the wedding, that, too depends on the couple, what type of wedding they have planned, etc. For the reception, they want their guests to have a good time so I would think a good mix of music would be best including any ethnic music that fits the couple and their families.

Ann Hinds: I am a traditionalist is all things but this is a very nice piece of music.

"Marry Me" is Slow Dance Compatible

A Slow Dance during a wedding reception is absolutely necessary. The planning takes a toll on both the bride and groom. With all the activities, the slow dance is a wonderful break to the romantically themed chaos.
