Things to Do With the Color O*r*a*n*g*e

Updated on December 22, 2019

Everything on this page is Orange but nothing involves the fruit

As you go through the letters in the word orange you will see each one is different. Each one has followed its own path. But each letter ties into one word and that word helps tie into the family. As each letter maybe used with or for members of your family.

All the orange items that you will encounter on this page have been brought to you by my family. And the different things that we have done together. Sometimes it is easy to remember them and others it takes a while. But once those memories pop up they are a joy to remember and then to share.

As I was saying that each ones done with my family. So please read through and see how many of these you and your family can do together.

O is Going Out to Dinner with the family

And that's out to dinner at Olive Garden with My Sisters - And the Discovery of Pumpkin Cheese Cake

Pumpkin Cheese Cake

For those of you that know me cheesecake is my favorite form of cake. As they say, "I have never met a cheesecake I didn't like."

My sister was visiting from out of state and wanted to visit with the family. So Her and my other sister drove on down. We talked for a while and them went to Olive Garden. The main reason is that they server food for vegans and vegetarians. And that is what my sisters are. One of each.

Anyways on one of the trips to the with my youngest I noticed that there was a board with food of the day. At the bottom was a desert. I had already eaten so I wasn't hungry. That is until I got to the bottom of the list. Trumpets Blasting - its cheesecake. Not only that its one that I had never had before. The Pumpkin Cheesecake. Downside, I was too full to eat it. But I now know about it and plan on another road trip soon.

Green Eggs and Ham - Dr. Seuss

Green Eggs and Ham
Green Eggs and Ham
With our youngest son there are ways the school suggest that we can help him to learn to read. There are certain words that they wanted him to learn over the school year. Believe it or not most of them are in this book. I am not sure that Dr Seuss had intended it this way but its great that something as fun as this book can help to inspire my son to want to read. It was the pictures that he wanted to see. Then he started to see and understand the words. Now he still reads a bit slower but he is still getting the words and getting them correct.

And a couple of game that the family plays while riding in one

Beep Beep

Some of you may know this game as "Punch Bug" This is how it started in our family. But when the driver is playing it is hard for them to take their hands off the wheel. It also got a little painful after awhile. So we renamed the game to Beep Beep.

The first step was to set a winning number for the game. For us it was usually 15. Or if it was a long trip the numbers kept track of and the winner announced upon arrival.

The point system:

VW Beetle also know as a VW Bug was worth one point and you would have to say "Beep Beep" to count that you saw it.

VW Bus was worth two points and you would have to say "Bus Bus" to show that you saw it.

VW Thing was worth three points and you would have to say "Thing Thing" for it to count. I don't think we ever saw more than five of these over many years of play.

State License Plates

This was not so much of a competition as can we find them all?

On a pad of paper there would be every state to listed and checked off as they're found. I don't remember Hawaii ever checked off. Alaska was though. Once in a while the Canadian plates would also seen. Those seamed more like bonus points the further south we went. Yet I do remember one spotted in Florida.

N is for Nothing

Nothing is what came into my Noggin - Then I walked around town and Orange Nothings started to jump out at me

G is for Gulf or in my Case Miniature Golf

Orange Golf Balls
Orange Golf Balls

Four

I still remember my first time on that course. Not how I did but the course and how it looked. OK I admit it, its near my parents home and we have to drive by there at least once while visiting them. Its interesting that if your ball goes off the course in three directions you can recover it. But if it goes off the fourth unless you want to scale down the almost 90 degree hill you will need another ball. On the last hole I only remember getting the bonus once. That means that you only get one shot. If it went in you won a prize if not the game was over. It was a way for them to get the ball back at the end of the game. I would rather see how many shots it would have taken.

The Biggest thing I remember is their neighbors on the right. Its an A&W Restaurant. This place still has the people on roller skates. And the ability to sit in your car and order. The last time I was there was with my wife and it was just for the Root Beer and time together.
