Wedding Etceteras: Minor Details that Needs your Attention

Updated on March 4, 2018

Minute Details When Ignored or Ignored May Ruin the Big Day

There are too many things to think about for the big day. The bigger concerns are venue, gowns, rings, invites. But, with so many other little items, it is overwhelming to prepare for a wedding specially if you have a relatively short period of time to prepare. Take your time, pause for a moment and start a list. Take hold of a good journal where checklists, tips and calendar are integrated so that you will avoid forgetting small details.

Can you imagine a situation when you thought that everything is okay then comes the big day, you cannot fully focus on the ceremonies because you remember that there is one tiny detail that you forgot to take into account? What about that situation when the bride thought that her sister in law was religiously doing her volunteered part - the wedding favor or giveaway, only to find out during the wedding that there was nothing done because of a misunderstanding on what to do and/or who should do it?

In my years of operating a bridal shop, I listed below the items that brides sometimes take for granted and freak out about it few days or few hours before the wedding.

  • flower girl head dress
  • flower girl baskets
  • candle holder
  • bridal bouquet
  • corsage

It is Smart to Go for Planner and Organizer

The Wedding Planner & Organizer
The Wedding Planner & Organizer

This is the same planner and organizer that my sweet friend used during her wedding preparation. If you click on the link button, it will lead you to a book on Amazon, authored by Mindy Weiss, a famous wedding planner. It contains valuable tips on how to plan for your wedding. As planning plays a critical role not only in making your wedding an event to remember but also to cut costs on unnecessary and common mistakes that brides make, this book is truly a must-have for every bride.

How to Make Corsage Using Natural Flowers

Corsage for Guests and Entourage

I have seen one unique corsage made of ribbons, baby's breathe and a tiny hat made of Manila hemp. It was really cute but unfortunately, I was not able to get a picture of it.

The photo here shows one that is delicately arranged showing both simplicity and elegance combined. I love the choices of colors and how the flowers are pedantically arranged to come up with this attention grabbing corsage.

Easy Flower Arrangements in Minutes

Listing and Designating

Small things when forgotten can ruin the big event

Make your list

and put a small box before each item

where you can tick one that is already prepared

Designate who shall be accountable or responsible for these small items

You will be very busy during the day

you make-up, your before the church photos and videos

What if you're in the church,

the ceremony started

and you realized you locked up your room

with the ring pillow holder?

Budgeting your time

Many brides want to do or at least have a personal touch on each item

then, they find themselves stressed out days before the big day

Budget your time well

Put a schedule on your journal

when each item should already be at hand and ready for use.

Even how small an item is, when totally forgotten,

you'll soon feel guilty about not having it during that day

Flower Girls' Headdress

There is no need for you to make or prepare the flower girls' head dress. You may talk to the provider of your gowns and dresses. Most of them already have several designs that they have used in a previous wedding. Then you can extract great ideas from it. Some gowns and dress providers include this service without additional charge, some give it as a promotional item if you avail of more than one service that they are offering. When I was operating a bridal shop, I customize headdresses for flower girls and for bridesmaids. I highlight it with the motif of the bride.

Alternatively, you may talk to the mothers of the girls and request them to prepare the head dress. Most of them are more than willing to do it. All moms want their little princess to stand out during the wedding so you will expect that they will do their best. Sit back and relax - see how creative they are in coming up with their head dresses. If you worry about uniformity or whether it will comply with your wedding theme or motif, you may give them certain lists of things to consider. Let them know what exactly do you want. If you want all the girls' head ornament to be the same, show the moms a model that they should follow.

Candle Holder

Some brides thought that there is no need to prepare for this because there are candle holders in the church. Other brides take the extra step of making sure that even the candle holder is customized. I personally know brides who look for customized candle and candle holder. One very unique candle holder that I saw in a wedding is one with a native touch - it was made of woven bamboo which is native to the place where the bride came from.

One classy candle holder that I could think of is made of shells, intricately designed to form a floral holder. Checking out on Amazon, I was attracted with the item below.

Customizing your Dove Cage

Options abound in bridal shops both in physical stores and online stores. Be sure to order your bird cage ahead of time, giving allowance for days of delay for the delivery. On your journal, set a date that you would be checking all items like the dove cage if they are physically on hand or not. Be careful when ordering items that ships from outside your country as it might take sometime for it to be delivered. The safest is to buy from Amazon - their estimate time of delivery is almost always accurate. You will get it right on the date you are expected to receive it.

Vintage, classic and romantic - these three words best describes this item on Amazon. It is the best option you can find there if you are looking for vintage and classic design.

Preparing a Unique Bridal Bouquet

Perhaps you will wonder why I chose to feature the bridal bouquet that you see here. Well, it may not be one that is classy and elegant but you will agree with me that it is unique. As shown, the bouquet is half way done; it was not finalized yet but you can see that the materials are unique. Instead of using just white roses, which is common, this added an indigenous touch with those pine cones. The city where I live is a home for pine trees.

With a lot of tutorials online on how to make a bridal bouquet, it is easier now for brides or for the person appointed to prepare the bridal bouquet to come up with a unique wedding bouquet.

I think listing is definitely a good tip when arranging a wedding. Also give people different lists so they can help out and help you to check up that everything is ok.
