Online Bible Verses - 1 Corinthians 1:18 message of the cross
“For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God.”
1 Corinthians 1:18
The validity of what scripture claims is really only subject to two viewpoints, as outlined above. There was a man who claimed to be the fleshly embodiment of God, who condescended to earth for the purpose of providing a blood sacrifice for mankind’s transgression. Upon doing so, He also, being one in the same with God, was able to resurrect Himself from the grave. He will return again, soon, to restore creation to its original perfect state, and gather all those to Him who wish to be His.
I must say, at first glance the above seems a hard pill to swallow. As the verse says, “foolishness”. And I can understand why that is so. I used to read the Bible as a kid at times, was overwhelmed by its length, excruciating detail and vivid description of things that seemed not possible.
But life and God may indeed have a way of changing us over time. What we encounter, in some cases, lands us in a place where self becomes insufficient in calming the sense of wrongness that has come to exist in our heart. In others, or in addition, a tragic or very difficult occurrence prompts us to cry out for a God that we need to be there. He answers, and opens the heart and mind to a new reality and hope. What was once somewhat of a fairy tale becomes validated over time and we believe it from cover to cover. That is powerful.
