10 Beautiful Flowers From Ancient India to Brighten up Your Everyday
The full moon day in the month of the July which comes right after the summer solstice is known and celebrated as Guru Poornima in India. ‘Guru, ‘Remover of Darkness’ as the word means in Sanskrit, is the revered spiritual seer, saint, teacher of the Supreme Truth.
It is difficult to understand and experience the Truth directly, similar to looking directly and intensely at the Sun. The Moon, on the other hand can be looked at directly and has a cooling effect. In the spiritual tradition, the Guru is likened to the Moon which reflects the Sun’s rays. Having experienced the Truth directly, he guides his students to reach their highest expression and to express their latent divinity.
There are a number of legends associated with this day. The most important being the birth of Veda Vyasa, who is credited with grouping the Vedas into four. This is also the day he commenced writing his important work - the Brahma Sutras - and all his works are relevant to this day. Thereby this day is also known as Vyasa Poornima. Buddha also delivered his first talk to his disciples after enlightenment on this day. This was also the day when Adiyogi Shiva taught the principles of Yoga to his seven disciples or Sapta Rishis.
This is, therefore the day, when disciples offer their gratitude to their Guru and rededicate themselves to the Guru's teachings.
This article is a compilation of some of the finest teachings of the Gurus /Masters of India. From a vast ocean of wisdom, I have, but gathered a few drops. Meditate on these, absorb it, soak in it and one can never be the same again.
1. All power is within you, you can do anything and everything. Arise, awake and manifest the divinity within you and everything will be harmoniously arranged around you. Awaken from this hypnotism of weakness. None is really weak; the soul is infinite, omnipotent and omniscient.

Because if you pick it up it dies and it ceases to be what you love
So, if you love a flower, let it be.
Love is not about possession.
Love is about appreciation.
- Osho
6. A master’s divine love is not that of human love but is something which only the heart, and never the mind, is capable of understanding. In the true spiritual tradition, the teacher gives so much to his student that the student’s life is over-whelmed and transformed.
- Swami Rama
7. Divine love makes us true to ourselves and to others. Divine love is the solution to our difficulties and problems. It frees us from every kind of binding. The ‘real magnanimous you’ is that space inside where you feel totally at peace. In moments when you are totally at peace you feel an expansion. You feel boundless and limitless and that is our true nature. We are all one in that, there is no two.
- Sri Sri Ravi Shankar
10. Inquire: Who am I? and you will find the answer. Look at a tree- from one seed arises a huge tree; from it comes numerous seeds, each one of which in its turn grows into a tree. No two fruits are alike. Yet it is one life that throbs in every particle of the tree. So, it is the same atman (soul) everywhere.
