Online Bible Verses - 1st Corinthians Chapter 2: a better time and place
“However, as it is written: “What no eye has seen, what no ear has heard, and what no human mind has conceived”— the things God has prepared for those who love him—” 1 Corinthians 2:9NIV
Scripture tells us that God has an awesome homecoming arranged for us. All of us. It would be His wish that we all be there.
“what no human mind has conceived”: this phrase takes on great meaning to me, because it rings true. I still can’t quite understand or envision why hanging out in God’s presence is going to be the best time ever. What I do understand, trying to fully comprehend that concept will escape me as long as I occupy flesh. God’s word instructs me that my flesh serves as an impediment to being in full and constant union with Him. Refer to the Book of Romans for an explanation. For now, the union I can claim is a spiritual one. A union which allows me to understand why I am the way that I am for now, with the hope of one day understanding why being in His presence will be infinitely better than anything I could experience in the here and now. My flesh tells me putting in a plug of tobacco and listening to Thin Lizzy on You Tube is much more fun than sitting around with a bunch of angels and praising God. His Spirit, however, tells of a joy awaiting which is beyond my ability to understand. He has opened the door to truth, a world view which could never have come about via my own ability to reason. So I, and we, can wait in hope of something and somewhere great. A place and time when our understanding will open up such that we can appreciate what real fun and happiness is all about. That brand of hope can bring forth a type of peace which, in turn, allows us to be happy and content while still here. Positive feedback, allowing existence in the imperfect to be not bad at all.
