Online Bible Verses - 2nd Corinthians Chapter 5: Good News

Updated on May 10, 2012

“that God was reconciling the world to himself in Christ, not counting people’s sins against them. And he has committed to us the message of reconciliation. ” 2 Corinthians 5:19-20NIV

Gospel means “good news”. Good news is often accompanied by bad news. Bad news first. The bad news is all around us, but emanates from the same source. It is actually bad news to the 2nd power, as man himself is the activator of what is bad. That when we consider what is visible or manifested in the earthly sense. Look at history and who does evil. We do. So many horrific things. And in our flawed state, we tend to look at ourselves as relatively good. Other people do the bad things. Or maybe we used to be bad but have matured and now are good.

Pretty good is also pretty bad.

One really tough aspect of scripture, it states clearly that we, of ourselves, are not good according to God’s standard. That is bad news. There is, however, good news. The good news is, we can be reconciled. Redeemed. Forgiven. Effectively made good by the grace of God. Imputed righteousness.

That is good. Today is a good day. God is good, and has been good to me. He made me good even though I am bad.

This was a really wonderful message and so true. A message of hope and good news is what the world needs now.
