A Spirit of Goodness

There is a spirit within each of us,

no matter who we may be,

a proof of our human caring,

that's put there for all to see.

It's a love and an understanding,

that only goodness can explain,

like all the seasons of the year,

as special as a nurturing rain.

Those who would doubt in a god,

and then to live their life in vain,

must endure all wrongs and struggles,

suffering in all the pain.

What have they missed in this grand world,

so given to each of us,

when they're driven by an incessant greed,

and by a tempestuous lust.

Their is only one decision,

in choosing what is right and is wrong,

a part of the human condition,

and in the soul where it does belong.

It's as sweet as a new born baby's breath,

yet, as strong as iron bands,

this strength to be a part of each,

so carefully placed within our hands.

In all of creation on this earth,

we are so gifted with a treasure, bright,

it passes from the touch of God,

and from His mighty spiritual light.

In knowing that He loves us all so much,

to give us our beautiful place,

such a comfort, there's none to compare,

and is the essence of His face.
