About Using The Name of The Lord in Vain

There are many that teach about using the name of the Lord in vain, but most do not teach the full truth of the matter. Many years ago the Lord directed me to teach some truths about this in a very unusual manner. I will share this and other truths about this subject here.

Please Read this Before we Begin. Here we teach scriptural truths that are not taught most places. These are essential truths that you cannot be a real disciple of Christ without properly understanding.

Because of this fact you must follow the scripture “do not be deceived my beloved brethren” and see that YOU are not deceived. In order to not be deceived you must not believe what I or any other man wants to teach you unless and until it has been confirmed in scripture and by the Holy Spirit of God to you Personally as Truth. That is your responsibility no matter who is teaching you.

The strange command that the Lord gave me on a visit to minister in Canada. Many years ago As I prepared for a meeting in Edmonton Canada the Lord gave me a very unusual order about the meeting.

Preparing For the Meeting

The usual way that He gives me what to teach is simply be prepared and after the meeting is turned over to me I ask the people to pray with me until the Spirit tells me what to do. Sometimes it is immediate and other times it takes a bit of time. This time was very different and was a bit unsettling because He told me the night before. Of course it was clear why when I heard His directions. I needed time to understand and be obedient to this strange situation.

He said that I was to stand up, greet the people and the say very loud and clear “god damn it”. I really was shocked at this and immediately argued with Him, Lord I can not do that they will run me out of town. After a long period of arguing I finally conceded and said I would do it out of obedience since I was sure it was the Spirit of God speaking to me. He did not give me any more information and I knew that as usual he would direct me once I was obedient. I admit I was very concerned but knew from experience that this was what I must do.

The Meeting

There were the regulars and quite a few visitors in the meeting. So when the meeting was given to me I stood up and very nervous, clearly and loudly said “god damn it”. Immediately people started gathering their things and started to get up to leave, with much murmuring.

Then I said as clearly and as loudly, “And that is what their god does. Because we cannot say that if we are followers of Christ because He is a Lord of blessing and not of destruction.”

They immediately sat back down and became fully attentive. Whew, I breathed heavily and continued.

Then I explained, you were offended at what I said because you thought I was using the name of the Lord in vain. But I did not. I used a very correct statement, and when I explained it you understood. We now need to look at what it means to use the name of the Lord in vain. It means many things that most people do not understand because most teach that it means what My first words were. Now yes, if you or I were to say that as a curse it would be wrong and using the name of the Lord in vain.

But when used by a non-believer it is a statement of fact about their god who s satan. Many times we as disciples of Christ forget there are thousands of gods in the world, not just the One God, the creator which we serve. All the other gods are part of satan's work force, and have no place in our world as we are of a different world, the eternal world of God and His son, not of this world which is satan's domain.

An Easy Way To Understand What is Using The Lord's Name in Vain.

First we must understand who the Lord is in this age.. All the authority of God has been given to Christ, His son for this age. He is not God but is acting as and for God in this age as God has delegated His authority to him for this age, At the end of this age Jesus will return all authority to God and He will retain it for eternity.

Matt 28:18-19 And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, "All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth.

1 Cor 15:22-28 For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ all shall be made alive. 23 But each one in his own order: Christ the firstfruits, afterward those who are Christ's at His coming. 24 Then comes the end, when He delivers the kingdom to God the Father, when He puts an end to all rule and all authority and power. 25 For He must reign till He has put all enemies under His feet. 26 The last enemy that will be destroyed is death. 27 For "He has put all things under His feet." But when He says "all things are put under Him," it is evident that He who put all things under Him is excepted. 28 Now when all things are made subject to Him, then the Son Himself will also be subject to Him who put all things under Him, that God may be all in all.

Since Jesus is acting as God by the authority of God, until the end of this age (the judgment). When we talk of Christ we, as Thomas so correctly said, we are talking of the God delegated Lord of this age, His son Christ. God will not be the Lord of all again and for eternity until all of His authority is returned to Him by His son on the day of the pouring out of the wrath of God on all unrighteousness, judgment day.

There is a saying that has been trivialized by being made into plaques and pins and etc, that has real significance that many do not see or understand.

What Would Jesus Do?

As real disciples of Christ we are commanded in Mark 28 that we must do all that Jesus requires of us. Which is, to do all that He did, taught, commanded or otherwise gave us example.

So there is a SIMPLE explanation of What Using The Name of The Lord in Vain ACTUALLY is.

It is saying or doing anything in the name of Jesus that HE would not do or say. (attaching the name of the Lord to anything that misrepresents Who He is and what He stands for.

And only when used by those who profess to be His is it wrong.

Examples:

There are some who profess to be of Christ who falsely say;

He would approve of abortion

He would approves of homosexuality

He would approve of divorce

He would approve of any other thing to which He would never allow His name be used.

You get the concept now and can add many of your own.

Now go in the name of Jesus and always honor Him and His Father as you Go in His name and you will be blessed.
