About Using The Name of The Lord in Vain

About Using The Name of The Lord in Vain

There are many that teach about using the name of the Lord in vain, but most do not teach the full truth of the matter. Many years ago the Lord directed me to teach some truths about this in a very unusual manner. I will share this and other truths about this subject here.

Please Read this Before we Begin. Here we teach scriptural truths that are not taught most places. These are essential truths that you cannot be a real disciple of Christ without properly understanding.

Because of this fact you must follow the scripture “do not be deceived my beloved brethren” and see that YOU are not deceived. In order to not be deceived you must not believe what I or any other man wants to teach you unless and until it has been confirmed in scripture and by the Holy Spirit of God to you Personally as Truth. That is your responsibility no matter who is teaching you.

The strange command that the Lord gave me on a visit to minister in Canada. Many years ago As I prepared for a meeting in Edmonton Canada the Lord gave me a very unusual order about the meeting.

Preparing For the Meeting

The usual way that He gives me what to teach is simply be prepared and after the meeting is turned over to me I ask the people to pray with me until the Spirit tells me what to do. Sometimes it is immediate and other times it takes a bit of time. This time was very different and was a bit unsettling because He told me the night before. Of course it was clear why when I heard His directions. I needed time to understand and be obedient to this strange situation.

He said that I was to stand up, greet the people and the say very loud and clear “god damn it”. I really was shocked at this and immediately argued with Him, Lord I can not do that they will run me out of town. After a long period of arguing I finally conceded and said I would do it out of obedience since I was sure it was the Spirit of God speaking to me. He did not give me any more information and I knew that as usual he would direct me once I was obedient. I admit I was very concerned but knew from experience that this was what I must do.

The Meeting

There were the regulars and quite a few visitors in the meeting. So when the meeting was given to me I stood up and very nervous, clearly and loudly said “god damn it”. Immediately people started gathering their things and started to get up to leave, with much murmuring.

Then I said as clearly and as loudly, “And that is what their god does. Because we cannot say that if we are followers of Christ because He is a Lord of blessing and not of destruction.”

They immediately sat back down and became fully attentive. Whew, I breathed heavily and continued.

Then I explained, you were offended at what I said because you thought I was using the name of the Lord in vain. But I did not. I used a very correct statement, and when I explained it you understood. We now need to look at what it means to use the name of the Lord in vain. It means many things that most people do not understand because most teach that it means what My first words were. Now yes, if you or I were to say that as a curse it would be wrong and using the name of the Lord in vain.

But when used by a non-believer it is a statement of fact about their god who s satan. Many times we as disciples of Christ forget there are thousands of gods in the world, not just the One God, the creator which we serve. All the other gods are part of satan's work force, and have no place in our world as we are of a different world, the eternal world of God and His son, not of this world which is satan's domain.

An Easy Way To Understand What is Using The Lord's Name in Vain.

First we must understand who the Lord is in this age.. All the authority of God has been given to Christ, His son for this age. He is not God but is acting as and for God in this age as God has delegated His authority to him for this age, At the end of this age Jesus will return all authority to God and He will retain it for eternity.

Matt 28:18-19 And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, "All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth.

1 Cor 15:22-28 For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ all shall be made alive. 23 But each one in his own order: Christ the firstfruits, afterward those who are Christ's at His coming. 24 Then comes the end, when He delivers the kingdom to God the Father, when He puts an end to all rule and all authority and power. 25 For He must reign till He has put all enemies under His feet. 26 The last enemy that will be destroyed is death. 27 For "He has put all things under His feet." But when He says "all things are put under Him," it is evident that He who put all things under Him is excepted. 28 Now when all things are made subject to Him, then the Son Himself will also be subject to Him who put all things under Him, that God may be all in all.

Since Jesus is acting as God by the authority of God, until the end of this age (the judgment). When we talk of Christ we, as Thomas so correctly said, we are talking of the God delegated Lord of this age, His son Christ. God will not be the Lord of all again and for eternity until all of His authority is returned to Him by His son on the day of the pouring out of the wrath of God on all unrighteousness, judgment day.

There is a saying that has been trivialized by being made into plaques and pins and etc, that has real significance that many do not see or understand.

What Would Jesus Do?

As real disciples of Christ we are commanded in Mark 28 that we must do all that Jesus requires of us. Which is, to do all that He did, taught, commanded or otherwise gave us example.

So there is a SIMPLE explanation of What Using The Name of The Lord in Vain ACTUALLY is.

It is saying or doing anything in the name of Jesus that HE would not do or say. (attaching the name of the Lord to anything that misrepresents Who He is and what He stands for.

And only when used by those who profess to be His is it wrong.

Examples:

There are some who profess to be of Christ who falsely say;

He would approve of abortion

He would approves of homosexuality

He would approve of divorce

He would approve of any other thing to which He would never allow His name be used.

You get the concept now and can add many of your own.

Now go in the name of Jesus and always honor Him and His Father as you Go in His name and you will be blessed.

After a while one comes to appreciate that one is dealing with somebody who is completely out of touch with reality. You are right - this conversation is a waste of time!

JW -- This conversation is a waste of time. You do not know Christ or scripture and certainly do not believe scripture or show any real interest in truths from it.. I am a disciple of Christ and believe all He was, is and requires of His followers.

Yes I believe in demons and that they are the cause of mental disease, that is why Jesus delivered people from them and set the example for His followers to do the same. Psyche drs are agents of satan the deceiver and are not drs at all but satanic agents. The apostate church system of man is not of God but of satan and apostate man and that is why they have included psyche drs. in their "churches" .

So do you really imagine that mental illness is possession by devils? Do you really think for one minute that science stopped dead 2000 years ago and mankind has learned absolutely nothing in the meantime about how the mind works and how communities operate?

THERE IS NO PROBLEM RELYING ON THE NEW TESTAMENT FOR DISCIPLES OF CHRIST, ONLY the apostate man has a problem with the things of Christ, the church made christians do not know the real Christ because they are disciples of man and not of Christ.

Psychology and sociology are the work of satan and are against God and Christ.. They along with the apostate church system are the reason the world is such a mass. Scripture says to crucify your flesh (carnal nature) but those agents of satan teach to learn to understand it and the apostate church system has accepted their trash into their world, proving they are not of God but of man. You are clearly a follower of man and not of Christ, so sad.

One problem with relying on the New Testament to guide morals and social interactions in the modern age is that we have learned a huge amount about psychology, sociology and much more in the meantime. I agree that the reports of what Jesus said provide a good guide to how we should treat other people, but they are not - and cannot possibly be - the whole story.

The reason for divorce is given by Jesus in scripture. It is the real problem in any relationship. Selfishness-- living to please your flesh instead of to please Jesus in this age. We are to crucify our flesh not cater to it as the church system that has accepted and brought into their "churches" the satanic psyche cult teach. He says in the gospels that the only valid excuse for divorce is adultery. And that only because of a hard heart that cannot forgive unless there is no repentance so no forgiveness is available.

You play a good devil's advocate but all your comments simply parrot the teaching of the apostate church system and are a waste of time and do not align with the teachings (doctrines) of Christ, the Lord of this age

Would Jesus have disapproved of divorce? Would he really have condemned people in unhappy marriages to stay that way for the rest of their lives, unable to escape and find happiness elsewhere?

The question to ourselves, 'What would Jesus do?' is great to ask in any situation. Thank you for an interesting and affirmative article.

the need for authority is a carnal thing and has no place in the church of Jesus Christ. This age of the rule of Jesus Christ is for the purpose of doing away with ALL carnal needs in those who will inherit the Spiritual eternal kingdom of God on the new earth where there will NEVER be any unrighteousness.

1 Cor 15:20-28 But now Christ is risen from the dead, and has become the firstfruits of those who have fallen asleep. 21 For since by man came death, by Man also came the resurrection of the dead. 22 For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ all shall be made alive. 27 For "He has put all things under His feet." unfortunately, you do not see the real church of Jesus Christ as Jesus taught it, as a spiritual way of life in preparation for the inheritance of the eternal kingdom of God which is the reward for the disciples of Christ

The problem with being truly "primitive" in terms of following how the Christian Church was in its earliest days is illustrated very well by the fact that some of Paul's letters exist at all.

Without formal leadership, these early communities tended to be very unruly with individual members believing all sorts of things and having no guidance as to who was right and who was wrong. They did not have any written "gospels" or other matter to learn from, and could only rely on stories told by others. Paul's letters were often written with a view to sorting out local differences and laying down the law in terms of what people needed to know and believe.

One can quite easily see why some sort of authority was needed in these communities to stop them falling apart, and one can also appreciate why authority eventually took the form of a succession reaching upwards from the local priest through bishops to Christ himself.

Modern house churches, and bodies such as the Quakers, that do not have clergy and do not expect members to follow creeds or prescribed set of beliefs, tend to be small communities. It is very difficult for these principles to apply to much larger communities of believers.

there is NO clergy class in the real church of Jesus Christ.

All the groups you mentioned are apostate as well. none follow Christ alone, all follow man and man made rules dot exclusively the doctrines of Christ as a disciple of Christ must do

IPeter 2:9 shows who the ministers are = every individual disciple of Christ

    1 Cor 1:10-11

10 Now I plead with you, brethren, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that you all speak the same thing, and that there be no divisions among you, but that you be perfectly joined together in the same mind and in the same judgment.

you can put lipstick on a pig but in the end it is still a pig.

The non-conformist denominations in the UK and elsewhere believe in the "priesthood of all believers", and call their clergy ministers rather than priests. However, the only modern group I know of that would meet your criteria would be the Quakers (Society of Friends) - although there are also many "house churches", Maybe groups such as the Jehovah's Witnesses, Seventh Day Adventists and Christian Scientists also fit the bill, although I don't know enough about them to be definite.

yes that is part of it but all the church system denominations are apostate. Jesus closed the previous age (age of Israel) and all thing became new and different through Him. There is no clergy and no building called a "church" in this age of the rule of Christ. The church of Jesus Christ is simply the followers (disciples) of Christ) which are the sons of God in this age. Peter tells us that we are the ROYAL PRIEST HOOD, a Hoy Nation which no previous age ever became. and JESUS makes it clear in MT 28:18 that each is to go and make disciples. Nowhere in the new testament are we commanded any other way. Nowhere are we told to go to a man, in a building to hear his interpretation of scripture, in fact it says we have no need for a man to teach us when we are filled with and responsive to The HolySpirit. The nicene creed is a catholic and anglican creed and is not of God but of apostate man. The doctrine of Christ, all of them and no others are what disciples of Christ must follow.

I am simply asking questions and pointing out that different interpretations are possible depending on which Biblical text you read. The gospel of John differs from the other three on this question.

I agree - Jesus did not claim that he was God. This was said by others on his behalf and it is included in the Nicene Creed which all clergy in the Anglican Church (and others) are required to submit to. Presumably this is what you mean by the "apostate church"?

no but I have the Holy Spirit of God indwelling as Required by Jesus and it has all knowledge because as the actual Spirit of God, it has been present from the beginning and has ALL knowledge. That is why it was sent to us. No mention by the original disciples or Christ Himself of those catholic false doctrines accepted by the apostate church system of men. Jesus is the only way in this age to get a relationship with God. He is the ONLY shepherd in this age of the rule of Christ.

Contrary to what the apostate church teaches, Jesus never claimed to be God. He did say He and His Father are one (of one Spirit which we must also be to inherit the eternal kingdom of God. Natural (apostate man without the Holy Spirit ) cannot understand the Spirit world of God. Only by becoming one Spirit with God and His Christ is it possible to be a disciple of Christ which is a son of God.

Please explain how Jesus can have a throne beside God in the eternal kingdom if He is God?

You are clearly indoctrinated by the apostate church system and are espousing their false doctrines. If you have any desire for truth we can discuss further but if al you want to do is convert me to the false doctrines of man you cannot do that as i follow the Holy Spirit and not any man but Christ..

So do you have access to the original version of the gospel of John - namely the oral traditions from which the first scrolls were composed?

I accept the first chapter of John in scripture but not the false interpretation in the kjv and the other bibles retranslated from it.

You can see the true interpretation in the Geneva bible, the interlinear and several other older bibles.

I do not accept any information from the apostate churches of man, only what scripture says. Jesus is clear that those that come in His name that are not of His are the anti Christ. In this age He says we do not need a man to teach us because to be His disciple we must be filled with the Holy Spirit of God that was sent t bring us all truth which it is the ONLY source of.

You say that Jesus is not God. So you don't accept the opening chapter of John's gospel then?
