Personal Art In Christianity

Updated on December 25, 2014

Art in creation

I want to explain in biblical terms with each personal painting that I have created just how much of an artist and creator our heavenly Father truly is when he created this wonderful universe that we live in.

Many natural elements in the earth are used as symbols and metaphors in the bible, for example...

Trees = people

Psalm 1 says Blessed is the man that walketh not in the councel of the ungodly, or stands in the way of sinners or sits in the seat of the scornful...but his delight is in the law of the Lord and in his law doeth he meditate day and night and HE SHALL BE LIKE A TREE...

Water = Holy Spirit

He that believeth on me as the scriptures have said...out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water

Water = word of God

Psalm119 says where withal shall a young man cleanse his way...by taking heed thereto according to thy word.

Water = word of God

John 15 says now are you clean through the word that I have spoken unto you.

Isaiah 55 says as the rain cometh down and the snow thereof...so is my word that goeth out of my mouth...

Light = people

Ye are the light of the world...a city set on a hill that cannot be hid (Matt 5)

ANIMALS:

Sheep = people

John 10 says my sheep hear my voice and a stranger they will not follow

Fox = Jesus called Herod a fox

Serpent = Satan

Dove = symbol of Holy Spirit

Lion = Jesus (lion of tribe of Judah)

People who inspire me

People who inspire me are those people who became extraordinary in their field of expertise despite all odds against them "ever" becoming anything in life. It is those genuine individuals who are not afraid to show their scars that they received on the way to success... because no one becomes successful without battle scars. People we can all relate to...people who struggle, doubt themselves, who became discouraged, who cried and even thought about throwing in the towel...these are the people who inspire me.

Butterfly Beauty

Original oil painting by yours truly

The grass withereth, the flower fadeth: but the word of our God shall stand forever (Isaiah40:8).

Many people look at the word of God as something one cannot rely on in today's times...but it is just as relevant today as it was years past because first of all,God is not a man that he should lie neither the son of man that he should repent:hath he said, and shall he not do it? or hath he spoken,and shall he not make it good? (Numbers 23:19).God is not like men who may have good intentions when they make promises...but may face obstacles that stop them from keeping them, But God is omnipotent (all powerful) which means he can back up what he speaks. Like the beauty of flowers...God makes all things beautiful in his time.

Peter was a fisherman by trade and he had toiled all night long while fishing... but caught nothing. He and the other fishermen began washing their nets...washing ones net means after all of the effort and time put into something...and getting nothing back in return brings frustration to the point of giving up.It makes no difference how skilled you may be...life still causes one to come up short, but the answer is not to wash your net...but to go back and try again. Jesus told Peter to launch out into the deep and to let down his nets for a draught, which means he had not gone out far enough to catch what he was looking for. Don't allow failure to cause you to scale back when you know the Lord is leading you to do something...but go back again with even more intensity the next time.

Mountain Majesty

I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help. My help cometh from the Lord which made heaven and earth. (Psalm 121:1-2)

Many times we may find ourselves looking to people to support and help us in our endeavors, when in fact we should look to the Lord. When we look to others ...we limit ourselves to their limited abilities instead of looking to Gods vastness and unlimited ability to do exceeding and abundantly above all that we can ask or think. God never created anything that he does not Provide for, protect, and preserve, so remember the next time you are faced with an impossibility...look to the Lord.

He leadeth me beside the still waters (Psalm 23:2b)

All of us need peace today, and this peace guards our hearts and minds. Worry is not the will of God for our lives because it reveals that we really do not trust the Lord. Trust takes a long time to build but can be destroyed in a moment. If you look back over your life you will find that God has never left you or forsaken you. Everything that could have happened to you... did not, because he has been faithful to you. The bible says every good and perfect gift comes from above...so every good thing that you have experienced today was ordained by God. So stay in his perfect peace for you by trusting him and keeping your mind on him.

And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water that brings forth fruit in his season...his leaf also shall not wither and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper (psalm 1)

One of the characteristics of a tree is its roots...many times success causes people to forget their roots or in other words where they came from and they boast within a setting of pride and self righteousness. Pride always precedes a fall.On a positive note...a tree knows that it's season to produce fruit will come as long as it waits. Through the fall, winter and spring...it's ability to remain stable and in its proper place will allow its fruit to manifest in its season. Believing Gods promises keeps one planted through the fall, winter and spring of life until what you are believing for happens. During times of waiting...a person may need to branch out in other areas...come up with new ideas and strategies...be willing to come out of their comfort zone and change, all important steps for branching out (growth)...because its whatsoever one does that will prosper.

There is no temptation (test trial) taken you but such as is common to man; but God is faithful who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able...but will with the temptation make a way for you to escape that ye may be able to bear it. (1 Corinthians 10:13).

Storms of life come to all of us at one time or another...but we can be of good cheer because Jesus has overcome every storm that we must face. He knows how we feel and the effect that storms have on us...but we must remind ourselves that it is not over until it is over. After we have grieved and come through our storms...we can only then look back and see the good that has come out of it because he promises that all things (good and bad) work together for "GOOD" to them that love the Lord...and to them who are the called according to his purpose (Romans 8:28).

Rest in the Lord and wait patiently for him and he shall bring it to pass (Psalms 37)

For a person to get a good nights rest...the mind as well as the physical body must be at rest and only then... will a person feel truly refreshed. In the bible when God created the heavens and the earth and rested...this rest was not a physical rest...but it signified that God was finished. True rest about anything will not happen until a person has concluded that an issue is finished. Faith in God and his word assures one that it is finished...even when it is not in reality...by faith, it is, and this is what allows one to truly rest.

Dreams do come true

Original oil painting by yours truly

Suffer the little children to come unto me and forbid them not ...for such is the kingdom of heaven...

Three things characterize a child according to the Apostle Paul in first Corinthians chapter thirteen...the way they speak, think and understand, and Paul says when I became a man I put away childish things. But there is one characteristic that should never leave an adult...and that is to be dependent, not independent. You see a child does not worry about what they are going to eat, drink, or put on because they simply trust their parents. Every adult must have a little child inside...and it is this dependence that such is the kingdom of heaven...that we trust our heavenly father.

Abstract 1

Original oil Painting by yours truly

For years I never liked abstract paintings because I never really understood the concept behind them...but as I began to express myself, I have now come to appreciate this form of expression. Life is much like an abstract painting because it cannot be figured out at first glance...and other people will look at the same thing as you and see something totally different. As we begin to focus on God and his word... the picture as a whole will start to come together.
