Canary Islands Astrologer Hara Davis - the exclusive interview
Introduction to Hara Davis
I recently had the pleasure of meeting Hara Davis at the English Library in Puerto de la Cruz and thought she would make a very interesting subject to be interviewed. Hara can talk at lengthy about astrology, raw food, circle dancing and the Urantia Book. Here are the results of the interview I conducted with her.
Please introduce yourself to my readers.
Hallo! I’m Hara Davis and am living at the moment near La Orotava in North Tenerife. I have a background in adult education but for the past 20 years have been a qualified, professional astrologer which I practise here on the island.
I also teach Circle Dancing and computer skills and practise Reiki healing and Kinesiology. I do voluntary work at the English Library and play tennis quite a lot.
I have been having an affair with Tenerife for over 20 years and used to have a permaculture farm near Los Silos with my husband, Dave. The island works its magic on us and we can’t seem to escape!

Please explain a bit about your astrology services.
I love my astrology work and hope it helps my clients to understand themselves and their lives better. It enables us to see things in perspective and is especially useful when life gets complicated or we need to make major decisions.
Astrology is the new psychology and is based on Jungian analysis – not the stuff that newspaper sun-sign columns are made of! I never usually get to see clients (they live all over the world) but send my work to them on CDs. I just need your birth details (date, place and time –if you know it) and then I draw up the Birth Chart which is simply a map of where the planets were when you were born.
The planets symbolise sub-personalities in your character and from their positions I work out a personality profile. This means an analysis of all your skills & talents and how to use them in the best way and the tensions and challenges that you have to learn to work with. Understanding and integrating all this helps you to become more fulfilled. Then on another CD I do trends (Transits) for the year ahead. This is not prediction but my analysis of your energies helping you to understand what you need in your life at the moment and what you don’t need.
I also do Relationship Charts which helps us understand the dynamics of living with others; and babies’ and children’s charts to help us to bring out their potential and pay attention to their sensitivities. See my website for more details: www.astrologyhara.co.uk
I understand you are very familiar with the Urantia book so what got you interested in this and how would you describe it?
The most influential book I have ever read is ‘The Urantia Book’ which I found years ago in the English Library here in Puerto de la Cruz. It answered all the questions I ever had about life, the universe and everything. Written by higher beings, and given to us in a very strange manner via a philosophy group in Chicago in the 1920’s to 40’s, it is in 4 parts.
The first section is about the Grand Universe we live in – how it is organised and the beings that live in it. The second section is about our Local Universe and how that is organised. The planet Earth is called Urantia and it includes descriptions of where we go after we die and what happens next. The third section is the history of our planet from the very beginning when it was formed. The final section is the life of Christ seen from a higher perspective. It is quite amazing and cannot possibly have been written by mere mortals.
I was so in awe of this book that I have written a series of Study Aids to make it more easily understood. These are available in English, Spanish, French and soon Portuguese. There are Study Groups all over the world and I would love to start one here in Tenerife. People should contact me if they want to know more about it or check out the whole book online at www.urantia.org. The book has been translated into many languages.
Circle Dancing in Puerto de la Cruz

What do you most like about Tenerife?
What I most like about Tenerife is the weather, of course. I have lived and worked in many tropical countries and am a real sun worshiper! I can’t handle the winters (and sometimes the summers) in England. I also love wandering around old Spanish towns like La Orotava and La Laguna. I love being able to go up into the forests, lie on beaches, sit in pavement cafes and play tennis all year round.
Please say a bit about the Circle Dancing classes/events you run.
My Circle Dance classes every Wednesday afternoon in the English Library in Puerto are the highlight of my week. These are dances, mainly done in a circle so you don’t need a partner) from Eastern Europe, Israel, Greece, the Balkans, but also from other areas of the world too. Some are old traditional dances and others are newly choreographed to traditional music.
The music is wonderful – it can be slow and hauntingly beautiful or quite fast and flowing. The dances are like moving meditations. I teach them clearly first and we all have great fun trying to get the steps right. Anyone is welcome to come and join us. 4pm to 5.30 every Wednesday afternoon (except in the summer when it gets too hot).
Anything else you would like to talk about or promote?
The only other thing I would like to mention is my interest in raw food eating. Together with my husband, I have been vegetarian for 25 years and mainly raw for most of that time. We eat mainly salads, fruit & nuts. This is another reason we are attracted to living in Tenerife where local fruit is available all year round.
