Astrology--What is A Cusp?
Sun Sign
There are three power points in your Astrology chartt:The first power point in your astrology chart is your sun sign (zodiac). Most of us interested in astrology know our sun sign as it changes to a new sign regularly every 28-31 days. In decades past it was popular conversation at a cocktail party to ask someone what their sign was. This question immediately brought all the usual comments about the reputed traits of each sign.
The sun sign represents your basic personality, your inner drives and ambitions. However, though the sun sign is a very important part of your astrological profile, it is greatly influenced by your moon sign, rising sign and other planets. These factors will influence your personality, choices you make and even current and future trends in your life.
Your Moon Sign
The moon changes signs in the same fashion as the sun sign does--rotating from sign to sign. However, the moon changes signs every 2.5 days. You obviously would not know off hand what your moon sign is. There are many sources online where you can calculate your moon sign.
The moon represents your total emotional makeup. How you react emotionally in life is decided by your moon sign. Your moon sign placement changes and modifies the traits of your sun sign. A quick example--take a Virgo sun sign which is pragmatic, sometimes quiet and well organized. Add a Gemini moon sign and the Virgo will show more flamboyance, fun spirit and be a bit of a daredevil. The moon also personifies your food preferences, color choices, fashion choices and how you may decorate your home.
Rising Sign
The rising sign changes signs every 2.5 hours. To know your rising sign you must obviously know your time of birth. The rising sign depicts the way the world sees you. This is your outside expression. It does not always indicate who you really are and what you are feeling.
For example an outgoing Gemini personality may have a Cancer rising sign and appear more emotional then the average Gemini personality.
If your sun sign and rising signs are the same you could very well show the world the way you really are, and this would strengthen the traits of your particular sign.
Cusps in Astrology
What is a cusp? The cusp in Astrology occurs the last few days and the first few days of the following sign. People often claim to be born on the cusp and claim the traits of both signs.
However, in my humble opinion this is not true. You see we can always claim any triats we wish from all the signs. Basically we all have the potential for all the traits there are. At time we may appear sad, happy, outgoing, aggressive or even passive.
When born at the end of sign you may appear not to have strong traits of the zodiac sign. However you are still very much that sign. An example would be if you were born on September 22 at the end of Virgo you are still very much a Virgo.
If you were born the first few days of a sign you can display extremely strong traits of that sign. For example if you were born April 20 you are a strong Taurus, and will isplay manyTaurus traits
A Note* Every 5-10 years the zodiac signs move back and forth one day. An example --If you were born November 22--depending on the year you might be a Scorpio or a Sagittarius. You would have to check the year you were born to determine what sign you are if born on the cusp. Another factor would be where you were born. I have a friend in Canada who thought she was a Virgo, but according to where she was born she is really a Virgo. I guess I could change her back if she wishes.
Final Words
Astrology is not just your "Sun Sign". You are not just a Leo, Taurus or Gemini. There are many factors that make up your personality. The Sun, Moon and Rising are just a part of the equation.
The other planets such as Mercury, Mars and Venus also influence your life. To duplicate your astrology chart would take approximately 25,000 years. You are unique besides being who you are but how the stars work in your life.
