Be Ye Therefore Perfect As Your Father In Heaven Is Perfect!

Ye Are Gods?

Do you believe in perfection?

Do you believe you can be perfect?

If you’re a Christian, do you believe that only person who has ever been perfect, was your lord and savior, Jesus Christ?

Well boy, do I have some good news for you!

Now, some of you might think what I’m about to share with you, is blasphemy, as opposed to good news (The Gospel). But that wouldn't be the first here goes.

You can be perfect

You can be perfect just like Jesus. And I’m going to show you how…no on second thought…I’m going to let Jesus show you how.

"5:43 Ye have heard that it hath been said, Thou shalt love thy neighbour, and hate thine enemy.5:44 But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you;5:45 That ye may be the children of your Father which is in heaven: for he maketh his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust.:46 For if ye love them which love you, what reward have ye? do not even the publicans the same? 5:47 And if ye salute your brethren only [only your family and friends], what do ye more than others? do not even the publicans so? 5:48 Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect. Matt 5:43-48" (King James Version)

In other words, if you do the things, that Jesus said to do, in those verses, you'll be perfect like your father in heaven (Meaning your spiritual father not your earthly father).

I bet cha didn't know that you could be perfect did cha? I bet most of you have been taught from childhood, that the attainment of perfection, is not realistic. But here is Jesus saying, that you can be perfect, because you are the offspring of your heavenly father, which means that, if your heavenly father is perfect, You have the potential to be perfect, just like your heavenly father doesn’t it?

But you have to do the things that Jesus said to do, in those verses, to bring that perfection into actuality. Jesus said that you are his spiritual brothers and sisters. He said, you’re in his spiritual family. That's why, he teaches you to start the "Lord's Prayer" with the words, "Our Father which art (resides) in heaven" "After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name". Mat 6:9. He didn’t say my father, but our father.

The Apostle Paul

The Apostle Paul

Paul, said, that if you have faith in Christ Jesus, you are a child of God.

He goes even farther, "And if ye be Christ's, then are ye Abraham's seed, and heirs according to the promise". Gal 3:29. Paul is saying, that if you are Christ's, (have faith in Christ), you are an heir of Abraham, according the promise that God made to Abraham.

He continues, "Know ye therefore that they which are of faith, the same are the children of Abraham. 3:8 And the scripture, foreseeing that God would justify the heathen through faith, preached before the gospel unto Abraham, saying, In thee shall all nations be blessed. 3:9 So then they which be of faith are blessed with faithful Abraham". Gal 3:7-9

Abraham, had so much faith, that he was willing to kill his only son, Isaac, because God told him to. So if you have the faith that Abraham had, according to Paul, that makes you a spiritual heir or descendant of Abraham, just like Jesus is said to be.

Paul also said speaking to the wise men of Athens in acts, "God did this so that they would seek him and perhaps reach out for him and find him, though he is not far from any one of us. 28 ‘For in him we live and move and have our being. As some of your own poets have said, We are his offspring.” Acts 17:27-28.

Perfect as your father in heaven

So the only conclusion left is, (that’s if you believe the texts) Is that, you’re a child of your father in heaven, just like Jesus is. You’re a spiritual descendant of Abraham, just like Jesus is. And, if you do what Jesus said do, in Matt 5:43-48. You will be perfect as you father in heaven is perfect.

If you have a hard time digesting this exotic meal, (believing you're a child of your heavenly father, that you can be perfect , on equal terms with Jesus, as an offspring of the same spiritual father etc), Don't argue with me, argue with the writer of the text. These are the words attributed to Jesus and Paul. I'm just shining a brighter light, on what's already there.

I'm just trying to shake your mind up a little bit, to get you talking, thinking, studying and discussing the issue. Just hoping you’ll take a little deeper look, a what Jesus and Paul are saying to you.

I would really appreciate if you would let me know what you think about this piece, if you agree or disagree with any of it and why. If you read the preceding verses in Matthew chapter 5. You’ll get a more complete view of the social situation and social context, Jesus was speaking in, when he said those words.

Jesus has the last word

I'll let Jesus have the last word

“Jesus answered them, Is it not written in your law, I said, Ye are gods?” John 10:

May the Light never cease to Enlighten your mind! And may you be perfect as your father in heaven is perfect!

      I agree Ericdierker

this is a different kind of perfection

but on the other hand if you make the mistake of not doing

what Jesus said, you're not perfect.

Whenever you do it you are perfect

when you fail to do it, you're not perfect

when you always do it, you're always perfect

I look forward to those who would call this blasphemy. I simple agree to your notion. Paul let the Hebrews know this was true in Hebrews 2:9-11. I think in human affairs, being perfect does not mean you do not make mistakes.
