Bet you can not do it for a day

Updated on October 17, 2012

See if you can do it.

Here is Gods challenge to you: try to go one whole day without saying I or me.

Here are some of my personal examples: in Morning Prayer I used to say:” Thank you God for choosing me to be a Christian writer to share Your word.” Instead I have learned to say:” Thank you Holy Spirit for working with me to be a Christian writer." After Morning Prayer and morning communion I sing three songs of praise. I get on Youku which is like YouTube and used to pick songs to sing to Jehovah, Jesus and the Holy Spirit. Now I ask Jehovah, Jesus and the Holy Spirit to pick the songs. You know what? Since doing that the songs chosen are much sweeter, meaningful and filled with joy. One song that seems to continually come up is Jesus lover of my soul It’s all about you and, And He walks with me.

But as for me and my household, we will serve the LORD.” Joshua 24:15

Before you make any decision today STOP and ask God “Okay, my beloved, what do you want me to do or to say?”

See how many times you catch yourself in a day saying I instead of God what do You do think should be done or I did instead of God blessed me with?

There will be two byproducts of this: One: you will see just how for you are self centered instead of Christ centered. Two: as you develop giving your every thought to Jehovah you will find you make less and less bone headed moves throughout the day and you will find a lot less stress in your day. Oh and another good reason to do this: because you are giving the greatest testimony for Jesus. People are watching, your children, family, friends, neighbours and co workers. What a great way to give testimony.

True godliness leaves the world convinced beyond a shadow of a doubt, that the only explanation for you, is Jesus Christ to whose eternally unchanging and altogether adequate "I AM!" your heart has learned to say with unshatterable faith, "Thou art!" Major Ian Thomas

Prayer: Please Jehovah Shammah (God is present) guide my heart and mind to stop and ask for Your divine wisdom before making and decision today. As well my Beloved, Help me to always give You credit instead of foolishly stealing it from You and claiming it for my own. In the name of Him who taught us to always put You first in everything, Jesus Christ I ask. Amen.

May the sunshine of Jesus’ sweet love bless you today and every day.

      Good morning Sara.

      Sad but true.

If people were more God centered instead of self centered there would be so much more peace in their lives and in the world.

May you be blessed in giving service to God to enrich your heart.

This is really great. And useful for getting people to stop thinking "me me me!" no matter what their faith.

      Good morning Michael

I agree, although it is very challenging, it is more than compensated by the rewards.

      God bless you.

Greatest challenge is often the opportunity to live sacrifical lives. Though the most challenging, always the most rewarding to see the transformation to become more Christ like. I appreciate your heart for Christ and willingness to be used of Him. Keep pressing on!

      Good morning rgmg.

You are welcome to share this article to help others. Sometimes I feel like banging myself in the head every time I catch myself being self centered. It is difficult but we must always be aware of it.

May Jesus' swett love envelope you all throughout the day.

Teacherjoe52 awesome hub! That is an awesome me, myself and I test. This past week a discussion came up about a new language, and it is exactly what you are talking about. To what extent we use me, myself and I in stead of God. Thank you for great hub

Your words have put me into the right frame of mind for today. It is so important we pray in this way: Lord, what would you have me to do and say today? Thank you for the encouragement.

      Good morning Mhatter.

Did you try it? I cannot count the number of times I catch myself doing it.

      Good morning Michele.

I pray for you every morning that the Holy Spirit will guide you into the path Hod has chosen for you. One thing I have learned is to have patience. It has taken God thirty years to mold me into where and what He wants my place to be.

      God bless yoyu.

You are correct. We are not perfect, one of the things I do pray is for God to lead me on the path He wants me to follow.

      God bless you.
