Brevity of Life
Brevity of Life
Psalm 39:5
"You have made my days a mere handbreath;
The span of my years is as nothing before you.
Each man's life is but a breath."
Our earthlife is just a glimpse of moment in eternity. Although a man may live up to a hundred, it is still not even an inch in eternity. The Bible says man's existence is only up to seventy years, eighty years if one have the strength. If you reach seventy years of life, you are already considered as blessed. The succeeding years will just be a bonus. But not very few failed to reach seventy years of existence.
Life is too short. I have been living for forty-nine years on this earth, I have only 21 years left for my earthlife considering a lifespan of 70 years and assuming I will not meet sudden death. I have lived greater number of years than what I am expecting to live more. The past forty-nine years of my life have passed so quickly. I may say it seems it is just like a moment or just a dream. The remaining twenty one years will be just a fleeting moment. If the LORD will still tarry, and will not return, I have only twenty one years left before I meet my LORD and my SAVIOR. In a little while I will see the KINGDOM. Just to think of the brevity of time left, it makes me more excited. It urges me to live in holiness. As the days pass, I should strive to be more holy than the previous days, knowing that at the end of my brief earthly life is a glorious rendezvous with my EVERLASTING KING, the LORD JESUS CHRIST.
The main lesson in this is that as we grow older, as we advance in years, we should not be disheartened. As years pass by, as we go nearer to our appointment with death,we also draw closer to the greatest and most awaited moment of our life, our meeting with our awesome LORD and SAVIOR. Each year that passes by, draws us a year nearer to this event. This is a great truth, and should encourage us not to fear aging and death, and to walk blamelessly before GOD and before men. To grow old is great, only because of what the Lord JesusChrist has done for us. If we will put our faith completely on His finished work on calvary, we will receive forgiveness for our sins.
GOD BLESS,
