Came Back From Death
I wanted to share with you of what happened to me on April 25, 2017 when I was brought back from death. This day in particular I had just returned to work from a fantastic week‘s vacation. I had to play catch up at work because no one had done any of my work while I was gone. My work had piled up on my desk and I was calling customers back that had left me messages on my voice mail.
As my first day back to work it was very stressful and I noticed that I wasn’t feeling right. At approximately 4:30pm I was sitting at my desk talking to a few of my co-workers. All of a sudden everything went black. There was no sounds or light just total darkness. I saw myself in a black tunnel and then I started to see what appeared to be three of my co-workers fading in and out as if someone was turning on and off a light switch. I could feel myself coming closer to them but it seemed like they were far away.
As I got closer to them they stopped flashing and as I regained consciousness I was disoriented. I didn’t know what was going on or what had just happened to me. I had a massive headache like I have never experienced before. I was laying on the floor and my shirt had been cut opened. My first question was where am I?
For some unknown reason I thought I had fainted while I was on the toilet and felt really embarrassed that they had discovered me there. My co-workers then told me I was on the floor in front of my desk. I felt very relieved to know that I wasn’t in the bathroom. I then thougth oh my I must have fallen asleep at my desk and they discovered me sleeping which is a fireable offense. I asked them why am I on the floor and they said that they had to shock me with an AED Automatic External Defribrillator. I said are you serious and they said “Yes” we also had to do CPR on you! I was in a state of shock and couldn’t believe it. Finally Fire Rescue showed up and transported me to the hospital. My head was still pounding and my ribs felt really sore from the CPR.
I was told that I was dead for several minutes before I was revived. My co-workers told me that my face had turned blue and I had lost all the colors from my face. I was literally dead for all practical purposes. I believe the only thing that kept me alive was my strong faith in Jesus Christ who is my Lord and Saviour. I pray to Jesus daily and I can’t praise him enough for giving me a second chance at life. When I died I didn’t see Jesus or angels or any of my dead relatives. However this experience did bring me closer to Jesus and I’m not afraid of dieing anymore.
Apparently it just wasn’t my time to go. Sometimes I often wonder why was I the lucky one that survived because a lot of people aren’t so lucky! I still believe that it was because of my love for Jesus and that he loves me and saved me!!!
As a result of my cardiac arrest I am now living with an ICD Implantable Cardioverter Defribillator which is similar to a pace maker but this one has the capability to give me an electric shock should my heart stop again. On many different occasions I have felt the electricity running through my heart and thought I was going to get shocked. I also live with this fear and it causes me a great deal of stress and anxiety. Another issue I am having is a severe case of Tinnitus. Since my incident I hear a loud high pitch frequency in my head all the time and there is no cure for this. My ENT specialist told me that I need to live with it.
The worst part of this whole ordeal is that i can no longer work due to my conditions. The pills I take for my heart come with side effects that make me drowsy and tired throughout the day. I usually have to take a nap in the middle of the day for approximately two to three hours. In addition the pills keep me going to the bathroom all day. I have difficulty remembering things and find it hard to focus. I am constantly worried about having the next big one!
