Christian truth verses Secular truth

What is the nature of Sin

The Nature of Sin

Kimberly Brenton

The Nature of Sin

Where did sin come from? What is the nature of sin? The bible has stated “for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God”. (Ro 3:23) Sin entered the world through Adam and Eve, with satan tempting Eve and Eve tempting Adam. Each made a choice; and is responsible for the choice they made. Sin is disobedience to God. Hell is the separation from God forever. Sin leads directly to Hell if you do not repent. Sin is something that is progressive; it grows stronger and hardens your heart if you continue in it. Once sin was introduced to the world it escalated and grew stronger throughout history. The more we sinned the easier it became. That is the nature of sin.

Adam and Eve introduced sin into the world. Cain and Able furthered it along. As society grew more and more people gave into sin. One of the main ways is stated in Gen 6:4, “when the sons of God went to the daughters of men and had children by them…” Sin became rampant in this new world. One of the interpretations of this verse is that the men from the lineage of Christ, which was Seth’s, began to marry and have children with the women of Cain’s lineage. This mixing of lineage led to even more sin entering the world. Sin is not a one and done kind of thing. If you look at sin or listen to sinful words you are more likely to commit sin because by being around it you become desensitized to the awfulness of it. And once you commit a sin it is easier to commit that sin again. We are masters of rationalizing and if we are not strong in the word and with Jesus it is easy to be convinced the sin you committed was no big deal. Everyone is doing it so it must be okay. The hardest sins not to commit are the small ones that people think do not really matter. But if you continue down the road with the little ones your heart hardens and you can easily lose yourself in the process. Sins biggest lie is a half-truth. It gives you a chance to hear what you want in the true part and ignores the sin in the lie part. That is another nature of sin.

One of the worst things we have done is taken the account of the fall of man and made it unimportant. We have trivialized the whole thing by making it everyday story. The big joke is giving people an apple and joking about being a snake in the grass. This was the fall of man from God and we have destroyed its importance by making it common. Eve has become synonymous with evil women and is the fault of everything. Adam is the gullible buffoon who has been misled and the snake is just a joke. This is one of the most important aspects of the bible and it has become an adult bad joke. We have completely lost all the respect for it that we should have. That is one of the ways satan has tricked us again. We hear the truth of the story but act on the lie of the story. In that way, satan has won again.

We are the creation of God. His word should be sacred to us. Our sin nature has made it easier to see the lie than the truth. To live a life of sin is a gradual thing. You do not wake up one day and say “hey, I think I will a life of sin” it is slow and you lose yourself a little at a time. By the time you realize how far down you are; the struggle to climb back out the hole you are in has become almost impossible. We lose sight of the fact that we are separated from God and how he wants us to live. Sin has become so common that people think it is the way you are to live and that it is okay. The nature of sin is found in all of us and it is up to us to fight against it. We must know what it is and how to live our life against it. Sin can be a very elusive thing that is hard to get control of but it is imperative that we do. We must know the Lord, the bible and have a personal relationship with Christ so that we can see the lies and live the truth.

It is the stand that needs to be made. We are here to find the lost and bring them to the truth.

In today's society, we need all the encouragement we can get. Our Nation is lost and we need to share that it is time to come home.
