Studying the bible is always good. For years, I have been studying the bible and I found it wonderful

Earlier

In the first article I have introduced this topic and have started with a means of God interacting with the first man, Adam. I continued with this by telling us some of the ancient means and which are still applicable today in article 3, I shall continue with this means in this article.

4. Through the Laws

After sending out of the first man and woman from the Garden of Eden as earlier stated, the means used by God for interacting with people is through conscience and making some people as a template for others to be following.

However, after calling out Abraham from his father’s house and turning his descendants to multitudes of people he decided to give them law through which he shall be interacting and dealing with them.

These laws for governing and interacting with his people, Israel was given unto Prophet Moses on Mount Sinai (Exo 20). These laws were converted into tablets forms for the people because he, God knows people that they may say they forget the law, so that there won’t be excuses, he wrote it out for them, and also told his Prophet that they should be teaching the people these laws day in day out.

And the LORD commanded me at that time to teach you statutes and judgments, that ye might do them in the land whither ye go over to possess it.

And thou shalt teach them diligently unto thy children, and shalt talk of them when thou sittest in thine house, and when thou walkest by the way, and when thou liest down, and when thou risest up. (Deu 4:14 & 6:7)

As they keep on teaching their children the laws and commandments of God, God was manifesting himself unto them. When the nation erred, and he sees any individual that fears the Lord he will be dealing with the person.

It is through the word of God that he is interacting and dealing with us today. The much word we know, the much the revelation of him we shall see.

Therefore, the apostle counsels that we should allow the word of God to richly dwell in us.

Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord. (Col 3:16)

Poll 3: Measure:

What is the measure of the word of Christ in you?

Through this word king David could smooth his paths, through this word he could ask God for directions when in darkness. (1 Sam 30:8)

5. Through Incidents/Events

When the wickedness of the world was high before the Lord, he decided to call Noah and gave him a message for the people that there shall be rain in the land. but the people mock him to scorn and would not listen to him. He and his family yielded to the call and entered the ark, after which the rain started falling. Through this incident, if we see any of the children of Noah who were doubtful of what their father was saying before, such a child would have been spoken to and would have believed in God.

Those who rejected the offer equally believed but it was too late for them because the door of the ark has been shut.

And as it was in the days of Noe, so shall it be also in the days of the Son of man.

They did eat, they drank, they married wives, they were given in marriage, until the day that Noe entered into the ark, and the flood came, and destroyed them all. (Luk 17:26-27)

After the Israelites got to the promised land and became a nation, the people of Israel gone away from the Lord into apostasy and started worshiping the gods of other lands. They rejected the counsels of the priests and the prophets were nothing before the leaders and the people. Then, secretly God prepared the man called Elijah and he was given a message for the nation that God would bring an incident to happen which would prove that he is the only God.

And Elijah the Tishbite, who was of the inhabitants of Gilead, said unto Ahab, As the LORD God of Israel liveth, before whom I stand, there shall not be dew nor rain these years, but according to my word. (1 Ki 17:1)

People perhaps would think this would not happen for from the time immemorial has it been raining, and they would call to mind what the Lord said unto Noah that the time of harvest shall never cease.

While the earth remaineth, seedtime and harvest, and cold and heat, and summer and winter, and day and night shall not cease. (Gen 8:22)

Thus, if there is no rain how would there be plantation? If there is no rain how would there be harvest? They would be saying, Prophet Elijah wanted to re-write history, he has said what God cannot do. But when the prophesy becomes fulfilled that was when they knew that God meant business and God has used the incident to talk to them that he is the Lord and there is none else that they should not serve other gods.

When the prophet arrived killing all the prophets of Baal and directed them to Yahweh, they couldn’t reject the offer, they knew they had been following the wrong gods, they have been misled by their king and leaders all the while.

And Elijah came unto all the people, and said, how long halt ye between two opinions? if the LORD be God, follow him: but if Baal, then follow him. And the people answered him not a word. (1 Ki 18:21)

Jesus also would talk about an incident that happened during his time, using that to tell the people that God is through those incidents talking to people who have ears to hear what the Lord is saying.

There were present at that season some that told him of the Galilaeans, whose blood Pilate had mingled with their sacrifices.

And Jesus answering said unto them, suppose ye that these Galilaeans were sinners above all the Galilaeans, because they suffered such things?

I tell you, Nay: but, except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish.

Or those eighteen, upon whom the tower in Siloam fell, and slew them, think ye that they were sinners above all men that dwelt in Jerusalem?

I tell you, Nay: but, except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish. (Luk 13:1-5)

To those who have ears to hear, to those who have brains to think God also speaks through incidents and would by that point the world to himself that apart from him there is no savior, there is none else.

In the same way he speaks to people through incidents and events then and now.

In the next article I shall be continuing with the means of God speaking to people and nations.
