“My soul is thirsting for you, O Lord my God” ~ Psalm 63
The author of this Psalm appropriately captures a feeling that all of us have encountered at times in our lives. Whenever you have a longing for something more, something that is not of this Earth, something that can never be satisfied by anything that is from this Earth, it is our Soul thirsting to be in Communion with our Lord God.
As children of God, the Lord is within us. But do we ever stop to think that we are also in God? That’s a little bit harder to contemplate and understand. But it is true and it’s a great notion to reflect upon. It is in a word, awesome.
In today’s 1st Reading (Jude 17:20-25) we’re reminded of the importance of building up our faith, of keeping ourselves in the love of God. Through the fostering of a strong and resolute faith, which requires patience, discipline and endurance particularly during the inevitably difficult times, we prepare ourselves for the abundant and eternal mercy of Jesus.
