Visualising Heaven?

When I began to think about writing this hubpage and thought about the amount of references there are in daily life to "Heaven" it made me want to look deeper into the way I feel about heaven and whether and how that differs to others.

My Western upbringing in the UK gives me a typical "Fluffy white clouds and Angels with harps" image from my childhood days and the cartoon strip type jokes seen in society tabloid newspapers, but then I started to think beyond that to all the sights, sounds and smells around the world that would make me say something like "Hmm, Heaven on Earth".

Heaven on Earth

Some places on earth have had such an effect on those discovering them that they have then been labelled with a name linking them to heaven; there are various places around the world. I have picked a few such places from China as examples further down in this hubpage.

If you want to see more of the heavenly places in China like those pictured below why not arrange a holiday in China where you can witness the sights for yourself and learn something of the culture while you are there.

World Beliefs of Heaven

All around the world there are different beliefs about heaven. Various religions teach us about heaven and as such we incorporate images of heaven that we visualise when we here the word "Heaven" in conversation.

When a lot of people think of Heaven it is a place associated with where we go after we die and so we like to think of it as a nice peaceful place where we can finally be at rest. It is a place we can see in our minds as a final resting place for loved ones and friends that for whatever reason are no longer living amongst us on earth and imagine them happy.

Then on the other side of the coin there are the miraculous things before we die that make us believe in heaven on earth. These don't have to be mind blowing experiences, they could be simple things that just make us feel good about life such as the smell of fresh cooked bread or spectacular views we see on travels around the world. It could even be the warm feeling you get when someone does something kind.

While writing this hubpage I found some spectacular pictures of places around the world named after Heaven in some way, the pictures I have shown here depict just a few I found all based in one country - China.

However you see heaven both here on earth and in the afterlife beyond someone out there will share you views but at the same time there will be others that see things just a little bit differently. Truth is we are all right because what makes heaven for us is special and unique.

Now I have written this page I will spend more time thinking about the places, people, smells and sounds on earth that are heaven for me and a little less about "Fluffy white clouds and Angels with harps”
