Enjoying Our Earthly Life
Enjoying Our Earthly Life
“I know that there is nothing better for men than to be happy and do good while they live. That everyone may eat and drink and find satisfaction in all his toil – this is the gift of God.”
Ecclesiastes 3:12-13
The Bible admonishes men to be happy. It means God wants us to enjoy our life and find satisfaction in all our laborings.
We should enjoy every part of our lives, We should enjoy eating. When we are eating we should not be in a hurry. We should chew the food and enjoy its taste before swallowing it. We should enjoy sleeping. We should enjoy spending our leisure hours. We don’t have to have much money to enjoy our leisure time. By simply enjoying to listen to a beautiful music will do.
We should find satisfaction in our work, We should not merely work for our salary. We are working because we do love our job and enjoy every bit of it, no matter how humble it may be. If you are just working merely for salary, how miserable would your work life be. If you will not enjoy your work you will just be bored in your work and it will be a very miserable life. Whatever your hands find to do, it may be just as lowly as wiping the windows, you should be enthusiastic about it and must enjoy every bit of it.
You must learn to enjoy life whatever is your economic status in life. You don’t need to be wealthy in order to enjoy life. With the little things you have you can enjoy life. You must learn to be content with the little blessings the good Lord bestowed on you. If you don’t have an expensive stereo learn to enjoy with your radio.
You don’t have to possess much money to have a happy life. You can enjoy life in all its simplicity as long as you are living in the center of God’s will. Achieving happiness in life depends upon the attitude of a certain person. A person may have all the best things this life has to offer but may still find his life miserable. A certain person may just possess only a few things in life but may be a truly happy person because she/he enjoys every bit of his/her life with the only few things he/she has.
A true Christian can be genuinely happy despite of being deprived of many great things the world could offer. Experiencing the love and presence of God is a sufficient reason to be happy in life, no matter how simple life may be. For it is the presence of God’s fellowship in one’s life the one that brings genuine happiness to a person.
Enjoy every people around you. Enjoy your parents, enjoy your children, enjoy your husband and wife and enjoy your friends. Enjoy every moment with your children while they are young. Do not hurry them to grow older. The stage of youth is the shortest period in the life of a person. And when they become adult, you will not see them often.. You must enjoy your spouse. Do not get distracted by his/her weaknesses. Learn to accept him/her for who he/she is. Love him/her unconditionally as God loves you unconditionally. Consider his/her good traits. See the good things in him/her rather than magnify his/her shortcomings.
We have to enjoy the moment. Sometimes when we are traveling, we are obsessed with getting into our destination, we forget enjoying the sceneries on the way. While traveling on a bus . we should enjoy viewing the sceneries while we are traveling.
We should enjoy every stage of our life. If we are now in the midlife, we should accept the reality that we are already past the youth stage and must not live in the illusion of restoring our youthful looks. We must learn to accept our real age in life and learn to enjoy the things that are meant for people in their middle ages.
I believe with all my heart that God likes us to enjoy. Why did He give us taste buds ? So that we will enjoy our eating. God likes us to have pleasures in life as long as we are not violating Biblical principles. It does not mean living a godly life is living a lonely life. In fact a Christian is instructed by the Bible to rejoice always as it is written in Philippians 4:4; “Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again. Rejoice.”
But as Christians our ultimate joy is found in doing the will of God in our lives. We should find our joy in serving God and in serving our fellow men. We should enjoy the presence and fellowship of God each day of our lives as we wait upon the fulfillment of His will in our lives.
