Faye's Daily Words Of Encouragement"# 107 Todays word is Profit"

Updated on January 3, 2010

"Faye's Daily Words Of Encouragement"# 107 Todays Word is: Profit"

What shall it profit a man to gain the world and lose his soul.
What shall it profit a man to gain the world and lose his soul.

"Faye's Daily Words Of Encouragement"# 107 Todays word is : Profit"

Definition of the word Profit: A valuable return, gain a profit. over cost, dividend on your return.

Ecclesiastes chapter 1 - 3 : What profit hath a man of all his labour, which he taketh under the sun.

Proverbs chapter 10- 2: Treasures, of wickedness profit nothing, but righteousness deliverth from death.

Ecclesiastes chapter 5 -16 :  And also is a sore evil .that in all points as he came, so shall he go: and what profit hath he that hath laboured for the wind.

Matthews chapter 16 - 26 : For what is a man profited if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul.

Galatians  chapter 5 -2 : Behold I Paul say unto you, that if ye be circumcised, Christ shall profit you nothing.

The word for today is profit; we all look for profits on investment returns, or wework for profits on a job. This world is all about profit of one thing or another; the bible ask the question what shall it profit a man, to gain the whole world and lose his soul?, the soul is a very important of us, I think we all need to answer this question.   If we win the lottery, and have money to burn, but doesn't have charity, we're  no good to mankind or ourselves. In case we don't know what charity is; It's giving and being generous with your money.  I guess when the bible ask the question; it was talking about the greed of man kind,  we have to keep getting more and more money, becuase we never have enough.

Some of us appears to have more than enough money, but we never share it with the poor or needy.  We can lose our souls,by becoming obsessed with getting more money and profiting in ways that's not godly.  we shouldn't become obsessed with becoming rich by profiting from others financial lost.  The truth is, our souls are more important than any profit gain, we can  come up with.  Our souls are precious and priceless; and money can't buy them.

Hi creative one, this is very nice piece of advise and i would show this article to my bf who always say if there is no greed there wont be any new discovery because all the discovery of new products and things have been done by those who are greedy for money, fame or for something.

everything in proportion I think. Profit is good, but excess profit like excess anything is bad.

There are so many 'levels' of profit though - I tend to look at the word profit as gain but not in the usual fashion. Happiness is the greatest profit you can achieve in my humble opinion or satisfaction in things well done, helping others, etc. There are many riches in life and ways to lead a 'rich life' that have nothing at all to do with money and monetary gain - not to mention being thankful for all the riches we have each and every day in terms of family, home and hearth, etc. Great thoughts/great hub. Unfortunately, riches are considered to be of material and monetary worth. Each one of us is rich beyond belief. He has blessed us with uncountable irreplacable riches, and often we never take the time to look at them. Thanks for the thought for today!

It is unfortunate that there seems to be preoccupation with riches. As you said, "Some of us appears to have more than enough money, but we never share it with the poor or needy." Here is the US 85% of wealth is controlled by 15% of the people. Something is definitely wrong with this picture.

Thanks for the thought for today.

This is a capitalistic world we're in.

It's harder to avoid this sin than most in our society.

      Thanks

So true, money can't buy our souls. All the money in the world can't save our souls, although money is a necessity, it's more profitable if we focus most of our time on more important things.

All I can say to your message is Amen to that. I profited a man nothing if he gains the world and hold on to every ounce of it and looses his very soul.
