Faye's daily words of encouragement"# 96 Todays word is : Confession"

Updated on December 23, 2009

"Faye's daily words of encouragement"# Todays word is : Confession "

Definition of the  word confession: To acknowledge or disclose one;s misdeed, or fault or sin, to declare.

Daniel chapter 9 -4 :  aI prayed unto the lord Goo ,and made confession, and I said  O Lord , the great and dreadful God, keeping the covenant and mercy to them that love him, and to them that keep his commandments.

Romans chapter 10 -10 : For mwith the heart man believeth  unto the righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.

1 Timothy chapter 6 -13: I give charge in thought of God, who quickeneth all things, and before Christ Jesus, who before Pontius Pilat witnessed a good confession.

I've been told that confession is good for the soul, and I believe that to be a true statement, especially if we're confessing our sins to God.    I don't believe in confessions to a priest, because he's a mere man; just like you and I, and I don't think he has the power to forgive  us our sins, So, why should we confess our sins to a priest ; what's the purpose, if he can' t forgive us our sins.   Our true confession ; are suppose to be unto God our father, that Can cleanse us of our sin and iniquities, man can't do that for us, only God can. King David was a man of man y true confessions, and when he confessed anything it was always to God, not the priest.

There was nowhere in the bible that he confessed his sins to men.  I think we should we be like King David and confess our sins to God; whehting re we will always get a returned dividend on our confessions; and  the priest want be able to do but listen.   If we want forgiveness of our sins, the n we should go to and confess a 0ur sins and short comings to him , and God will make us whole.

I, too, doubt a mere mortal has the power to say our sins are forgiven, and think we must confess our sins to God. My dad always said that no one can reserve a seat in heaven, we must do to be rewarded.

I agree creativeone. In Protestants' understanding of Scripture, confessions to a priest is not a salvation requirement. Though true Catholics are sincere in their beliefs, Protestants believes final authority rest with Jesus Christ, not the church. Our middle-Man is Jesus, because He is the One who actually died for our sins AND He is none other than God Himself.

Thoughtful hub creativeone, Peace and love to you and your family!

      Forever His,

I was born Catholic and brought up. But I fully agree with you. Even one further most of the Catholic are going to confesssion and they do the same again. I am sure they think 'ah well I can confess and do my prayers which is the penalty and then be all right'. The confession should be for not to do it again. To my mind the religion should be there to make you live accordingly.

Some people seem to thing that a person should give their confession to a priest when GOD is all the person needs to confess their sins to.
